I would also like to know more about the tmnet hotspot. Presently I am using the streamyx and it really sucks. It lags like mad after the taiwan cable broke and up till the time of posting this thread ,my connection still lag tremendously.

I understand that the upload and download speed for the hotspot is 1 m either way, which is better than streamyx because streamyx upload speed is only 512k.

would really appreciate if anyone can shed some lights on the above

Checked out the wireless broadband promotion at the http://www.tm.net.my/html/htm/produc...@homeAdvan.htm

And saw the list of advantages they listed. Strange though there were some puzzling advantages listed....if you could picked them out

Do the charges apply only to the calls you make or does it apply when you connect to the broadband service?

In other words, is it like their dialup service where you have the internet access charges plus the phone line usage charge?

GPRS is not 512kbps, more like 56kbps if i not mistaken. Even 3G is only 384kbps, but 3.5G is theoretically 1.8MB (in reality is probably closer to 800kbps, and there's for down only). I am using celcom 3.5G and seems the 3G service in SJ has been upgraded to 3.5G (the network icon display speed of 1.8MB). Regardless of which operator, i would believe that all are affectected by the Taiwan quake esp. if accessing china or hk sites. Anyway, i believe the internet connection should be back to normal now as my streamyx download speed was not too bad over the weekend.

You said that you heard it is launching.

firstly , can I ask whether it is launching or already launched?

secondly, is the 1mbps for upload and download speed?

If it is, then it is very encouraging, because I am very fedup with tmnet streamyx which feels like a dialup 56k modem speed!!!!!!**** connection. complained many times but tmnet blame telekom lines and telekom blames tmnet problem.

would appreciates your confirmation and I will immediately try it out the next day. (if they have phone numbers would be beautiful)

    thanks a lot

Saruman, If I get it right the 10 cts and 15 cts charges are for making phone calls not the internet connection which is unlimited in usage for Rm.99 per month.
