    Experience with householder insurance

Anyone subscribe to householder insurance before? Any good/bad experience with any of the insurer?

Probably a good idea especially with the flood problems nowadays.

I have my home contents insurance from MNI Oneline... so far, no problems In fact, about two years ago - my area kena hit by a power surge which effectively kaputted my aircon and TV... I called their toll-free line and explained the situation and they said to see if the damages can be repaired, which I promptly did. The electrician came and fixed the appliances and gave me a bill which was forwarded to the insurance with the photos... and true enough, got a reimbursement cheque from them.

Have checked the policy - and it covers burglary and any possible damages for everything within the house... I'd recommend MNI anytime...

Did you have to submit any proof that your area is hit by a power surge? And how long does it take for MNI to do the reimbursement? I'm using MNI Online too, but for my car insurance. Thinking of getting insurance for my house content.

I did... and it was just photographs and original repair bills of the damaged appliances... and they PAID me... if I remember correctly, in less than two weeks... By the way, TNB had replaced the fuse and the meter outside the house... (took pics of that too.. but was not required )

I am very contented with their services, their professionalism and their prompt reminders ( letters and calls ) with regards to my auto and home policies. In fact - I think their telephone agents are beginning to sound/speak better English than some of the major banking tele-marketing people...

Thanks for the update. I found MNI Online's telephone staff to be polite and professional too. It's good to know their service and reimbursement is good too.

All along I dont have any good impression on any insurance but that perception of mine changed when I managed to have a good insurance agent. I would say this insurance Agent of mine is superb in his services & professional. Under his advice, I save alot on the premium in my insurance compare to my previous on many unnecessary cover. Claims under his help was always fast & satisfactory done.
For household, depend on how much you insured on the contents. It is best to allocate the insured amount correctly on the categrory of items...like electrical appliances, Jewellery, furniture, clothing & other valuables
Claims on electrical appliances damaged by power surged or lightning were easy & simple. Just showed the photo & bills would do the job.
On flooding, I think that has to be extra cover on all insurance policies, of cos you dont have to if your house is built on those hilly area but again you may want to consider landslide or plane hitting
For me, just get one of those good & reliable Insurance Agent and let him does all the jobs & worries for you
