pls teach me how to get discount from MPSJ..
dear yinxy, sorry I didn't read your posting earlier until PC Yeoh quoted your posting.

anyways, he has told you that there is a discount.

for your info, next time if you get summoned, just see the adrress on the summon. Write a polite letter and send it to the council together with the summon. Write some thing like this,

    Dear Sir / Madam,

I refer you to the summon dated ------ and I am sorry to note that it was not entirely my fault. You see, on that unfortunate day, I _____________. As you can see from my reason and explanation, it was not entirely my fault. I do very much hope that you could take back this summon and reconsider not fining me.

    Thank you.

Send it and wait for their reply.

Usually, they will be linient and they will reduce your summon to the minimum. I experienced once, after returning the summon, the council never asked me to pay anything. so anything can happen.

Of course try not to irk the council like saying, "You council fellows not efficient and didn't provide enough car parks for me to park." Obviously a more polite way may be, "due to the inadequate car parks, and due to the recent increase of snatch thief, I was worried for my safety and so I double parked in front of the shop......"

The discounts are applicable if you commit the offense no more than 3 times a year, I think. I "kena" a lot on the parking meters - sometimes expired by not more than 10 mins also kena.

Usually for parking it's RM 80 - just go pay at the MPSJ building - it's very quick. Don't even need to negotiate or write letters - they will bill you RM 40 straightaway.

But if you keep committing the same offense - then the discounts no longer apply, as I found out recently :-)

Those who park indescriminately, have no sense of others, selfish should get summons and well deserved to be. What is there to complain just because for your selfish act that cause convenience to others?. Double parking when there is an empty lot, parking next to the table on the roadside for food, parking at junctions and so on. If any forumners here talk about our brainless politicians, just stop to think a while, perhaps he or she is one of the kind too. What I cant understand further is that some owners of big cars, parking at yellow line outside shopping complex just to avoid parking charges,.. cant afford to pay parking fees?. I am happy to pay for these cheapskate rich fellas.

Point here is.. please be considerate to others, park properly and try to avoid congestions due to the selfish attitude.

I don't think one can finish some errands in 2 minutes like most of the claimants said here. Normally if you finish your chore within 2 minutes, your car should be within your vision and the MPSJ enforcement officer won't be so fast to give you a summon.

Knowing very well double parking is absolutely wrong. Imagine your car being blocked by some inconsiderate guy when you are in a hurry to go out to see someone for some important matter, and you have to honk for 30 minutes
before the car owner walks slowly to let you reverse your car.

    Questions:-

    1. What would you do if you are irritated ?
    2. The car owner is much bigger size than you?

Write your HP no on the dash board lah, check your car 5 to 10 minutes lah,
bla......bla...... you are still wrong. All these acts are causing inconvenience to others.

Everyone know paying fine of RM80.00 is exorbitant. Why give the MPSJ officer a chance to summon you. How can one run their errand with a peaceful mind when you have to worry about the summon.
I come across one hero double park his car blocking someone and drink 'Tong Swee' with girl friend in Taipan. Maybe try to impress his girl friend.
There are plenty of parking lot at the central car park and it costs only RM2.00 per hour. RM80 can pay for 40 hours.

The moral of the story is park your car legally and be considerate or you will suffer financially.

That is the way I see it.

I agree with USJ9chin, and the story never ends. They deserve it. I cannot understand them, really what is in their mind or attitude. Sometimes i just though of having spray paint with me, or sharp object... you know la what to do with that.

Are you implying that one bad turns deserves another? Aiseh...Where would that place you or me? I'm sure everyone gets rattled by selfish people but it is just as bad to take revenge on these thoughtless people.

It takes a great man/woman to always make the right choice whatever the circumstances. Take a moment to reflect before you act eventhough the urge to retaliate is on the verge of no return

On the contrary I think there should be automatic and immediate towaway and PDRM summons of RM 500 at least for double parking.

Double parking is the most disturbing and arrogant behaviour as it directly affects those that are locked-in as well as disturbing the traffic flow of a whole area.

If someone double parked behind your car habitually, why dirty you hand to beat him up. Some tough guy will teach him / her a lesson one day.
No matter how tough you are, there is always someone tougher than you.

    Sokong, sokong, sokong....a million sokong!!

Just a few days ago, was at AM Bank in Taipan very early in the morning. So many parking lots. Yet this idiot must indiscrimanetly double park his car right behind mine and went into HL Bank! What the heck!! I can never understand. A whole row of parking space next to my car and he still had to double park. And when he came out of HL Bank, he behaved like I didnt even existed! So tempted to get down and knock the bugger's head off! Stupid idiot!!

i hate hearing about this sort of double parkers, though i haven't the misfortune of meeting one yet. i admit i double park, but when i get caught for it, i am always apologetic. they are usually quite understanding, though i won't blame them if they choose to be angry. i mean, knowing you did something wrong, it's better to be contrite about it, then pretending it's no big deal, because it is a big deal when you're obstructing someone. just because you weren't gone long, does not in any way excuse the fact that you might possibly be hindering the person from getting away for something urgent.

i guess i practise the principle of if you can get away with it, lucky you; if you can't, face the music.
