The concessionaires are controlled by the same people who run the government who in turn negotiate the agreement "on behalf" of the government. What do the "rakyat" get? The loose change?

Err...some people say...Orchi is blind about politics in Malaysia...ahem...damn they could be right...!

So now for better understandings of what the heck goes on with them 19 nationwide toll concessions' agreements signed by the UMNO led BN government on behalf of millions of rakyat jelata(s)...Orchi starts asking questions...!

    1. Who provides fundings for the project to build those toll expressways...???
    2. Who guarantees the loans provided from the relevant financial institutions or syndicates...???
    3. Who guarantees the exorbitant profit margins of these toll concession companies...even when they are poorly or corruptly managed...???
    4. Who actually own those 19 toll concession companies...up to now???
    5. When the toll expressways are constantly jammed up due to the increase of vehicle usage...why are the motorists caught in betweens..still have to pay exorbitant rates of toll...??? n With increase usage means more revenue...why should toll rates be increased exorbitantly...???
    6. Why can't the efficiency of the MORE productive n effective public transport systems n mechanisms be further improved upon...so millions won't have to resort to owning n using own private vehicles to get around...to work and to schools...???
    7. Why is there any need to build MORE toll roads...???
    8. What are the real root causes of traffic jams...???
    9. What can't the freaking UMNO led BN government be thinking of better alternatives than continuing to waste billions of taxpayers' money n energy resources to building n sustaining MORE toll roads...???
    10. What can't the freaking UMNO led BN government figure out ways to cut unproductive private vehicle usage n to conserve energy resources wasted by over consuming the non-replenishable fossil fuel...???

A lot of people would probably pin this down to "bad road planning". Though I agree with this, there's other factors as well.

The huge suburban sprawl we have for quite some time means that there's not enough jobs available in Subang FOR Subang residents. (This can apply to any suburban neighbourhood around Selangor). So now we have everyone staying at the outskirts of the city, sharing the same route to the same center of commerce. 6-lane highways might have solved the problem before, but suburbia just keeps growing, even when there's no more room for road/highway-widening. (Yeah, I know Jln. Kewajipan isn't really a highway, but notice that road-widening really never solved anything?)

It'll probably also be better if we didn't have one group of people that works in A, stays in B, with another group that works in B and stays in A. I realise that it's impossible to do this with most people, but we should try to work, play and live in around the same localized area.

And don't forget increased standards of living + easy credit going around. Though I figure this won't be so much of an issue soon with cost of living steadily going up.

The government needs to halt development of suburbia. Make communities walkable. Bring in New Urbanism.

    My God

I just saw the post on the toll concesionaires. This is terrible. and to think I have been paying toll faithfully for the last god knows how many years.

cant the DAP PAS AND PKR ask the ACA to investigate this?

Is there justice anymore for the rakyat?

All the concessionaires are UMNO owned or UMNO/BN-linked companies. That's why.
    See you...

Sepandai-pandai tupai melompat, akhirnya jatuh ke tanah juga.
No matter how clever they try to avoid getting caught, sooner or later ,they will be exposed for their wrongdoings .
Malaysia is bless that we don't have earthquakes, volcanoes or tornadoes, that do major destruction to the infrastructure and takes lives, but we do have man made "disaster" that makes the rakyat suffer.
