This is wat i gathered.This movie has two storyline to tell. One is the movie n one is reviews. But this is wat i gathered. I may be worng but it does make sense. Here goes:

The killer of Zhang is i think the prince Wu luan. The expression of zhang and the music background when she died already tells it.

This can be proven. This is my theory. From all the main characters, the way the prince died was too fake, it was not like he was stabbed or something he just touched the dagger that acording to general yin its poisoners, then he mati. This kind of dead can be faked out by him.

as for general yin,he might have plot the whole fake dagger poison thingy with the prince. there is a scene to prove it.remember the scenewhen two of them are arguingon the throne on the snow scene, just after he saved the prince from the imperial gaurd. He said something like the time will come and ask the prince to wait or somehting.

As y the prince killed zhang zi yi, although all of us are blinded thinking that they are really in love, actually the prince really hated her. there is only one explanation. the real killer of his father is zhang herself and not the 2nd king, which all of this while we think the killer is. there is no proof showed the 2nd kind poisoned the first king.

not all the imperial assasins commit suicide, there is one imperial assasin who did not use the bidge.

after Zhang Ziyi finish talking to Prince Wu luan, a piece of cloth drop from the air. What message the film director is trying to convey to us?
To me it indicate a piece of romour? but yet Prince Wu luan meet up with the
poison maker. Later Zhang Ziyi meet up the same poison maker and killed him.
i mean who told Prince Wu luan about the poisoning method?

Ho ho..I always thought ( maybe hamylet version ) that the ziyi husband was killed by the husband brother , and to prevent from the same fate , ziyi agree to maary the husband bro ..
Because the husband bro need to marry the wifey to get the throne..because kill wifey , the son become emperor which mean as well kill the whole family ziyi , husbaand and son , hence to prevent the hassle , just crok the husband and marry the ziyi and bypass the son...

But of course , in this china punya version , the ziyi is not the maternal mom of daniel wu , instead ex lover , as ziyi choose the emporer..of couse how can ziyi refuse the emporer?!!,...sure head will roll...and how daniel wu can fight with the father(emporer)..so as well said poor ziyi is just surviving from one phallus to another one...until finally meet another phallus don fancy her..which i guess could be the royal eunuch because "he" don have phallus!!

First i agreed this movie indeed borrow some ideas from Hamlet,but not a Hamlet clone.

This movie is complicated. ziyi likes the prince, instead the emporer marry her, but the brother in law secretly likes ziyi. ziyi have to be empress to save her own life and the prince she already have a secretly plot to get the prince to be the next emporer. Instead the prince is determine to get his father killer which very disappoint ziyi.

What will be the movie ending, if the prince swap the poison when he visit the poison maker and purposely left it behind?
