    Thank You

THANK YOU forumers! From all the advice & info. given on how to renew an Indonesian's maid work permit, I had mine done without any hassle.

Am pretty impressed with our Immigration Dept. in PKNS Shah Alam, too. Got it done within 20 minutes despite the crowd. Just submit her passport & $445 cash at the Counter Pertanyaan & voila! (No photostating of IC, passport whatsoever).

Just a word of caution: Don't Forget you need to pay your car parking ticket at autopay in the building & not at exit. Blur sotong here didnt notice any sign of that & you can guess what happened next.

    Hi all,
Just wonder, can i go to any Immigration Dept instead of PKNS (ie. the one located in Pusat Bandar Damansara - damansara height) to renew the permit once the fomema is done?

Tks for all the kind soul here , I just did the passport renewal and the fomema on my own now, left with only the permit extension process now..

Online...ie means,,if you are residing in Selangor, one was only able to renew at Selangor Imm depts or at Putrajaya those days...now..you can do it at KL Imm dept like at Damansara or WP...

So it should also mean nationwide...I think..

Yes, you need to holld her salary. The amount to at least cover whatever moneyyou spent to prolong her service. Or else, she may not come back as promised.

What about all the talk about democratizing the rights of workers, after all 14days ago we all celebrated Labour Day.......
No trees were killed in the sending of this message. However a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

And I agree with you cjk888
Holding back salary doesn't mean we not paying her. She will get it back asap when she returns unless she is only entertaining you saying she'll come back. You must not force her lah to commit to the extention of service...she must agree out of own will. So it should be fine with her that you inform her the 2 months of her salary will be held back and for what purpose. Incase after she 'janji' and no show then the money will be for compensation to the 'Majikan' coz $$ about the same amount is being utilized for all the paperwork neccessaities.
I was given this advice by my agent coz he told me many cases happened....maids promised to come back but no show!

human rights only valid to a certain extend, as I have my own rights to protect my own interests too..

My maid is completing her 2nd year, and i'm extending her permit for another year based on her own will to stay on.. I will certainly hold the sum of all costs to renew her passport, permit, fomema check. That's all, not holding any more than this as all that are her hard-earned money, I know that.

I have got a lot of useful information from here when renewing my maid's passport and I would like to share some updates. The Indonesia Embassy now has prepared for the employer the contract, which is to be sign between the employer and the maid, and the staff of the embassy will be the witness. I have wrote down a figure plus some increment for the maid, but apparently that was lower than their "minimum wage" of RM600, so myself and also quite a lot employers were called to another counter and told that we have underpaid the maid. So the situation looks like if you don't change the figure to RM600 you won't get the passport renewed. I was caught in surprise to know that on the spot. Is this something new? How do you guys deal with that?

Talking information as at July 09

This was what I had to go through this month for Maid's (1) renewal of Passport at Indonesia Embassy and also (2) extension of work permit at Immigration Putrajaya. However as she has worked more than 5 years, she was not required to go for the fomema medical check up. Readers - I wouldnt pay an Agent to get all this done bcs the whole process is not difficult, just time consuming. All in all, you need to take 2 days off.

    Day One
Indonesia Embassy - Go in the morning as parking will be easier, just beside (left side) of the embassy RM7. Your Maid has to be in attendance with her original Passport, most recent (read: new) passport photo. Preferably the Majikan also attend and have your copy of IC ready too. Being there makes it easier, as the requirement now is to sign the pre-prepared "4-page Contract of Employment" which is only available at the Embassy. When you are there, you also need to fill in the "Application to Renew Passport" form. All these forms are only available from the Officers manning the "Forms/Borang" desk - I tried to ask for an extra copy to bring home and he said "Tak Boleh". The "Contract of Employment" will ask for various details e.g. date of contract, salary $ (which must be more than RM600 anything less it will be rejected I suppose), address of employment, signature of Majikan and Maid. NB: If you are doing it for your Dad/Mum, Aunt/Uncle - make sure you get an Authorisation Letter signed by them (majikan) and attach copy of their IC to authorise you to act of their behalf (wakil majikan). Then you can sign this "Contract of Employmt" on their behalf. BTW there is a Notice Board with examples on how to fill in the forms. Once the forms are completed and all attachments ready, get your Maid to join the queue. If all documentations meets the Embassy's requirement, the whole process may take 2-3 hours, the new Passport will be ready on the same day. How efficient!

    Day Two
Immigration Putrajaya for Renewal of Work Permit and i-KAD Application - Go to the lounge that says Pembantu Rumah, not Pekerja Asing. Bring Maid (yes your Maid must go if she has not applied for her i-KAD), Majikan must go too (if not, get an authorisation letter as explained above). Docs you need:-

    Original Passport
1 piece passport size photo BUT make sure its with WHITE BACKGROUND, not red (for i-KAD application)
Bank Draft for RM445 for KETUA PENGARAH IMIGRESEN MALAYSIA
    Copy of Majikan's IC
    Copy of Maid's Passport
Copy of Maid's latest PLKS (work permit)
    Borang i-KAD (get from counter)

Get your queue number and ask for the Borang i-KAD. Fill that in (very easy 1-page form)and you will be processed at Counter 8. Then make payment RM445 at Counter BAYARAN, and get the Work Permit from counter PELEKAT. All can be ready on the very same day, and your Maid will be all smiles with her now personalised i-KAD (wallet size)which she can carry around instead of the Passport. This process may take less 1/2 day. Alls well, ends well... hope this helps.
