    renewal permit for maid

Does any one know how long it will take to renew the permit of a maid. Heard from someone that it requires at least 3 months. My maid permit is expired in 2 months time. Is it still enough time? What type of fine I will get if the process take longer than 2 months?

it's quite simple and fast actually.
    1. Go to fomema - register, choose doctor and pay.
    2. Go to see the doctor.
    3. About 7 or 8 days - get result from fomema. Can call or check online... no need to go there.
    4. If result fomema okay, go to imigration, renew visa.

all in all, around 10 days.

On top of procedure posted by jakpo, you will also need to check the validity of the maid's passport.
Usually, it is valid for 2 years. Therefore, if you are extending the maid for the 3rd year, you would have to renew her passport first. And the renewal takes more than a month.
But, if the passport is still valid, just follow the procedure above. On Malaysian part, it is rather fast actually , but not on their Embassy side.

If not okay, be prepared for another 4 to 6 weeks - AFTER you submit reports from specialist and appeal document. To avoid being late, Fomema recommends that we start the process approx 3 months beforehand.

    Hi all,
Following Jakpo steps, I know the bank draft to bring for paying Fomema is RM190 (female). Would like to know how much is the bank draft amount I need to bring to imigration office to pay for the visa??

Indonesian passport renewal - both the maid AND the employer has to go. Queue up early in the morning over there.

This applies for all countries or just Indonesia? My housekeeper is from the Philippines.

don't know about Phillipines. Their embassy would work differently from Indonesian's.

Just checked with the Indon embassy cos, mine is up.
It only takes 3 hours to renew an Indon passport now...so within a day u will get it but be prepared to spend at least from 9am till 3 pm there lah. Used to take a 3 weeks to a month to get a new passport out.

The cost of the passport is only RM22 for a 3 year passport, but any agency will charge you RM 300 to 400 for the whole procedure

As for the work permit renewal at our immigration, its pretty quick...less than an hour, you can do it at Shah Alam Immigration Office at PKNS bldg. And if you are renewing your maids` visa at the end of 3rd year, you do not need to send her for medical...so you save on Fomema...
Check out the Fomema website or call 03- 2094 6188

RM 445 made out to Ketua Pengarah Imigresen. So actually the whole process takes about 2 weeks. I did mine in 1 week cos forgot deadline so asked doctor to hurry at QHC. Tip- choose a doctor who has both the medical and xray facilities. Save time, no need to run to 2 places.

Thanks for all the info everyone

One more question, if the maid do not want to renew, we need to apply for a 'leaving letter' from immigration to give to the airport boarding guard, and no payment incurred, right?

You're most welcome! BTW, you can print form online from Fomema website. So you can fill it up, choose doctor from information online (note address-then it'll be the same clinic, some doctors use different clinic names..maybe Fomema requirement etc), then submit straightaway there..no need to waste time. I go to the PKNS Shah Alam. Fomema-Level 3. Imigresen-Level 2. Cheers!

The last time I sent my maid back after 1.5 yrs. I got the agency to do it as it's still within the 2 yrs contract. I think gotta buy airfare as well as get the working visa cancelled. Can't remember which is first. I didnt have to pay anything. It's very important to cancel the visa to ensure you could hire another maid later on. Best to call Imigresen and/or agency to consult.

book her flight first. then with the details, go to immigration and cancelled her permit. you'll be given some documents for the maid to surrender to immigrations when she exit. all foc.
make sure you do this. my mother in law tried cancelling her maid's permit AFTER the maid has left. the runaround is not worth it. gotta go make police report and such...and on top of losing the deposit, gotta pay a fine as well..guess who has to do la!
