    Giant vs Mydin

I noted Mydin is nearly ready for business.

Not considering Tesco or Carrefour due to the distance for me,
I would definitely give Mydin a try once they are open, reason being.

    1. Indoor car park. Car will be cool after shopping, food do not get spoilt in the hot boot. I have written to Giant to complain about this to nurture their trees properly for shade. Couldn't give a damm about it.
    2. Food - new stock. Giant-USJ's quality is questionable at times based on personal experiences.
    3. Probable cheaper pricing to compete with Giant.

I will keep patronizing Mydin unless they go below par from Giant in the future.

Anybody got good or bad experiences with Mydin elsewhere.

    Your choice or views.

I can predict they will build shade for car park very soon. The Giant in Seremban do have shade. Just write to them to speed it up.

Doing your shopping all within 1 floor is better than going around too many floors. For this reason, I do prefer Giant. So far I do not have so many bad experience with Giant although in previous thread, there were many complaints. One man's meat is another man's poison.....just go wherever your heart takes you.

did u notice Giant is erecting some tall structures at the parking lots near to the Mydin's side (near to the parking exit)? Wah, looks like Giant want to block their 'fengsui', is it?

Yeah. It looks like it. They have declared war by building such ugly structure. Their objective is not to remind its customers that the grass is greener on the side. Giant says this new wife will eventually lose it 'heat' and fade away just like the Hokkien say "sin jamban ho pansai" (new toilet easier to shiit) the Malay version is 'hangat hangat tahi ayam' and I am sure the Indians don't want to lose out will have something to add. You bet and Nanri....

These are most probably big billboards by Giant, to block the view of Mydin bldg from public. Mydin will hv to put up a higher structure on top of its bldg... as a counter strategy... haha

More competitors, good for consumer in terms of choices and lower prices, but quality of services may drop as too many employment opportunity around.

whatever it is....i hope it doesnt create more traffic congestion!

these 2 hypermarkets should consider the traffic flow as well i guess.

I have to support Mydin because

    1) The first Mydin store opened in Kelantan many many years ago. Eventhough the owner is from Penang.

    2) I remember buying a bottle of Vidal Sassoon shampoo. It's sold at RM18.90 everywhere but in Mydin, it's only RM15.90. But that was many years ago.

Everybody is anticipating the opening of Mydin..Good, but surely like any new outlet they will offer all sorts of appetising offers and cheap sale and etc etc. But time will tell if they can continue providing cheap prices. As long they can give a good run for Giant to compete it would be fun to watch the prices falling..otherwise Mydin will become another worthless giant.

I saw, from the recycle center of Giant, that the side and back of MyDin building has a lot of 'ugly scars'. Are these 'scars' cracks? If so, is that building solid and safe enough?

Managed to go mydin this evening. they had RELA members to help with the traffic. Many people. I bought these stuff:

    1. walls low fat ice cream : mydin rm3.70 ; was on sale at giant last week for 3.99. at cold storage same thing at rm7.99
    2. nescafe 3-in-1 - cheaper at mydin ,
    3. milo fuze Rm8++ in mydin , rm9.8 in giant.

didn't get much as there were too many people there, and i had done my groceries earlier this morning

Went there at 8pm sat nite and was jammed like mad...Had to park near the shell station further in.

Place not too bad i suppose for a new opening and prices quite good too. Gonna be a problem to giant but consumers are benefitted

Hmm Was wondering anyone tried the food at the place? Looks like lots of food at the food court? Any good recommendations?

What are RELA ppl doing directing traffic? Are they a private entity like a security guard company? The last I checked they are a govt-funded agency...

Did Mydin pay for their services or maybe the Mydin's boss is a honorary RELA colonel?
What you have to do and the way you have to do it is incredibly simple.
Whether you are willing to do it, that's another matter.
