    Exclamation Attempted Car Jacking...

Err...between 06:00 to 07:00am this morning at USJ 2/4N...there was an attempt made by car thieves...believed to be 2 Chinese males aged in their early 20s...

Err...they arrived on the scene twice...on a silver Toyota Harrier SUV bearing a false registration nos...which according to the investigating officer(I/O) was reported to be an earlier stolen vehicle...

A neighbour's maid had witnessed the attempt by the 2 car thieves...when they were trying to car jack a Toyota Camry belonging to the next door neighbour...

The thieves managed to break the rear side window(which had triggered the car alarm system to activate...but was later diactivated by the car thieves simply by 'short circuiting' the car alarm system thru the side signal indicator )...to gain access to the car...n had a master key to switch on the ignition...

But their attempt failed...because the owner had just recently installed an after market locking device fitted the the brake system of the car...which would disable the function of the car's transmission and electrical throttle system at the same time...

Ahem...so instead the car thieves made off with the owner's briefcase containing among other documents...an international passport belong to the owner himself...which was previously kept in the rear trunk boot...

So please be extra cautious about suspicious characters(normally 2 persons) lurking next to vehicles around the neighbourhood...

n for those that keep new cars in or outside of their homes...be adviced to seek better alternative to install additional security features into their precious vehicles...

n don't keep valuable items in their vehicles at all times...!

It would have been less headache just to lose the car than the passport...believe me. But in this case he could have lost both.

Ladies and gentlemen...please please keep your passport in a very safe place like in a safe deposit box if possible. I was a victim of a passport thief and I can write a little book to tell all the shiit I have to go through to get a new one. Losing your car compared to your passport is like mossie bite to a kangaroo flying kick.
When overseas/travelling, always keep your passport in the hotel's safe deposit box.
    Sorry for the digression, Orchi.

Smart tags too! My car's window was smashed and broken into not too long ago. It was parked just outside my house. Those thieves work very very fast. Please make sure you keep your smart tag away from being visible to the thieves or in the dashboard.
Sigh..if only smart tags are sold cheaper then this thieving problem could be curbed. Perhaps.

Always keep your smart tag out of sight....I have had at least 5 friends who got their windows smashed due to smart tags.

Err...dear WildExplorer...Orchi was told by the neighbour(owner of the Camry) that he got it fixed in GS Auto Accessories(HQ) at Jalan 222 Petaling Jaya...

    Hopes that helps...

Ahem...apparently the freaking car thieves these days...knows precisely the weakness of the factory car fitted alarm systems...n they are armed with "master" keys(no need to even pick the standard locks)...of the particular models that are HOT on their demand list...

Err...so looks like it is advisable to install additional security features to your precious vehicles...

Err...for your additional considerations...maybe you wanna ask a trustworthy Automobile wiring expert to incorporate...a cut off switch(only made known to you n the wireman)...hidden at a secluded spot...to disable the fuel delivery or the ignition systems...

    Good luck...

The anti-thief device that i can think off is the stand-alone-immobillizer, which act as a device to stop the thief from starting your car or might immobilize the car by stopping the fuel supplier to the engine if there is no special card or correct key-code entered. It sort of act as anti-hijack device. This is a very small amount to pay to safeguard your car.

btw those thief that try to short-circuit your alarm by tempering your side signal, you definitely can stop that by installing extra fuse along the signal light wire. Get a 2 ways pager alarm or a gsm based car alarm system. Anyone try to be funny with your car, u will be the very first person to know. Extra precatious will be try add on backup battery for your car alarm ecu and replace your car siren with battery backup siren, even if the thief cut off your main battery supply, your alarm siren still will go on shouting all the way. In the car interior,u should at least install a motion sensor, don't worry fly passby won't trigger the alarm, they trigger by motion of human body size and temperature. After you have done all this, the thief still want to steal your car or tow your car away, then too bad it just plain bad luck, have to "mandi bunga to buang sui kau kau"as the malay saying.

If the NRA is to be believed, the one sure way to combat car-jacking is an armed citizenry.

A few neighbors of our area started the security system where each household pays rm30 a month. At first I was skeptical about it, but the system really helps.
There has been no reported break-ins ever since and the security guard makes his rounds regularly in the day/nite.

Orchi, why dont you gather a few of your neighbor friends and start one. I know there are quite a number of happenings in your area mainly car break-ins.

Hmmm... sometimes you do wonder if the "security" is involved in the crimes, think about it, u pay no crime, dun pay - crime central! Modern day "protection money".
