    Exclamation TMNet Temporary Service Disruption

    TMNET TEMPORARY SERVICE DISRUPTION

We regret to inform the customers that the international link outage to Europe is still ongoing due to unforeseen circumstances. This is due to a submarine cable failure at the SMW3 Segment 9 at Sesimbra, Portugal. The international providers are carrying out rectification works in stages and we expect that the restoration exercise will complete by Sunday, 21st May 2006.

The outages also occurred at the international link to Hong Kong, which is due to submarine cable failure at the SMW3 Segment 2.14 at Deep Water Bay, Hong Kong. As a result, customers may experience some delay when assessing websites hosted in the Asia Pacific region. TM Net has taken immediate action to divert some traffic through other back-up links to reduce the traffic congestion. The restoration exercise is expected to be completed by 25th May 2006. We will be making further announcements when the service has resumed to normal.

TM Net Sdn Bhd apologizes for any inconvenience caused but at the same time we would like to assure you that what we are doing is necessary in order to restore the service as soon as possible.

Customers can call the 24-hour TM Net Customer Interaction Centre at 1-300-88-9515 or 1-300-88-1515 from 8:00 a.m. till midnight or email at custcare@tm.net.my for further enquiries about the service.

    NOTICE ANNOUNCEMENT

We regret to inform our customers that the international link outage to United States of America (U.S.A) and Thailand is ongoing due to unforeseen circumstances. This is due to a submarine cable failure at the SMW3 cable towards Tuas in Singapore and Pyapon in Myanmar. On-going rectifications are being conducted in stages.

As a result, customers may experience performance degradation to access content hosted in U.S.A and Thailand. TM Net has taken immediate action to divert some traffic through our back-up links to reduce the traffic congestion. The restoration is expected to be completed by 6th June 2006. We will be making further announcements when the service has resumed.

TM Net Sdn Bhd apologizes for any inconvenience caused by this, whilst at the same time, we would like to assure you that we are doing all that is necessary in order to restore the service as soon as possible.

Customers can call the 24-hour TM Net Customer Interaction Centre at 1-300-88-9515 or 1-300-88-1515 from 8:00 a.m. till midnight. We can also be contacted through email at custcare@tm.net.my for further enquiries about this matter.

Every ISP (Network Service Providers 'individual or class license') has to have a 'Disaster Recovery Plan'. When a 'disaster' occurs, ie:Submarine cable gets attack by sea monsters :P, an ISP must be able to continue providing its customers with an 'uninterruped' service.

TMNET however, choose to blame this blame that.. bla bla bla.. blu blu blu.. sorry this sorry that...

As a Streamyx subscriber, I'm not asking for 'the best' connection. JUST A DECENT STABLE ONE.

P.S: I'm wondering... if I migrate to a diffrent ISP (Jaring, Maxis) will I still face these problems? To my knowledge, Jaring is riding upon TMnet's backbone? So if TMnet goes down Jaring also goes down? Any Jaring users here that would like to comment?

Atleast they provide some sort of updates and what they are doing to rectify the problem. Some problem are totally unforeseen (i.e. Katrina, etc), the real catch here is what are they doing to mitigate the effect of these problems (i.e. secondary data recovery site, rerouting traffic to alternative links, etc).

Guess we should be thankful for what little information they provided, in my previous case logged with them no information/progress updates provided despite numerous calls over few days for latest updates. Now that's frustrating!

Heard Time has just launched a 3G pilot phase, perhaps this is something to look forward to? No further details provided as far as i know.

I'm just waiting for my 1year contract with Streamyx to expire, then i'll give them the boot and look for other alternative (Maxis 3G, Time 3G, or any better options available by then). Oh by the way, it seems TM have not heard of the term "it cost more to acquire new customer than maintaining a current one" and "once existing customer leaves, they leave for GOOD".

Haha... my streamyx is worse... If I try and connect after 6pm, its impossible to get a decent connection. To make matters worse, everytime there is thunder (yes thunder) near my house, my streamyx gets disconnected for no apparent reason LOL.... Kinda gave up on TMnet already, after numerous complains etc, problem still persist.

i am in USJ2; and my streamyx connection is still down.

anyone else with the same problem?

spoke to TMNet last night, and the lady kept on saying 'wait' and cannot give any solution whatsoever. Their technicians working on the problem but cannot promise when the service will be OK again.

anyone with the same problem? The last date connection was made was 28th May!!!

Ung KB, appreciate if you can let me know whether streamyx is having some problem again last week & this week ?

I cannot login to streamyx email and I am also having some problems with my new Aztech moden to dial up to streamyx. Instead, I have to dial up using Jaring which is slower.

BTW, my location is Puchong Utama.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Those ISPs who are riding on TM backbone will definately shift the blame towards TM. Even if you should lodge a complaint, they would use TM's complaint procedure and the "current industrial practice" to hammer you down. How i know this, because i was with EB Technologies before i shifted to another ISP. They are the most brutal and nastiest people i have ever met, I have to take them to court just to sort out my internet problems.
Humans are unique creatures, no matter what one individual does, it will not suffice or be contented with. This is one factor which differentiates us between humans are animals, the will to strive for the better.

I notice that the problems are never the same. Always another part of their system is going down. Maybe it is time for them to consider to upgrade or change the whole thing. My steamxy at USJ 3B is always slow.
