Dog Kutu

Well, I know this is a comman thing... however, my darling spaniel is infected with "kutu". I have washed him with the medicated medicine and brought him to the vet for further check-up. However, there is still "kutu" when he came home... not as much as previously though.

Do any of you have any solution to my problem?

my bobo(doggie)..botak liow he..he..he ......coz of kutu loh....

I called her botak goo....now she very ugly(shi tzu)....walk liked untie

used the medicated shampoo..only can killed kutu on the doggie body....kutu can hide on other places...on sofa,bed..etc

cannot used garlic on her body...she sleep on my bed!

You have to bathe the dog as well as wash all the areas in your house where the dog is - garden etc with the medicine as well.

When I was younger, I used to see my neighbour using mothballs to get rid of ticks & fleas from dog ( not sure if it is harmful to the dog, as I have not try it on my own dogs. BTW - both my Tenterfield Terrier & Mix Spitz do not have this problems)

Crush the mothballs in to powder form, and spread on to the dog's fur / body. Let it be there for a few minutes, and you can see those insects crawling out. Then make sure that you bath the dog thoroughly after that

BTW - get rid of the fallen ticks & fleas with insecticide. Make sure that you remove them from your dog playing area, or else the baby ticks & fleas will be hatched out & terrorise your dog again.

I think the best thing is to bring your dog to the vet for a jab. If I remember well, cost is about RM70. After just a day, you can see all the kutu mati liao. Tick collars are a lot of help too.

if your doggie or miaow miaow have some bad odour, sprinkle some baking soda instead of changing the sleep area everytime.

can get it from bakery shop very cheap lah, cheaper than some pet shop outside, material is the same one lah

There's no other quick cure, tick collars can't help once the doggies been infect, shampoo and tick collars can only prevent reoccurance.

Best way to get rid of the ticks quickly b4 it gets out of control is as Eve said, anti-tick injection by a qualified vet. But there's a side effect - shedding of fur may happen to some. After the injection, you'll need to make sure the house is cleared of hidden ticks, eggs, and wear a tick collar to prevent reinfestation.

the best n fast solution is to apply Frontline.....u can buy it from any petshop....

its very effective....but u had to apply it correctly....spray on the skin not on the fur...

guarantee the next day....all the kutu die off....

Frontline is pretty good but sometimes when the kutus get out of control, a jab is much better. Then maintain with the tick collar and frontline

Had this problem sometime last year. Full blown ticks and fleas on my doggies. Bought some medicine from the vet to soak and 'wash' my dogs as well as their sleeping and playing areas. I picked the ticks and fleas off my doggies' body and threw them into a jar of kerosene for the final kill and I actually enjoyed doing that. After that, all kutus cleared.
