PM: RM4.4b Savings from Petrol Price Hike
PETALING JAYA: The 30sen increase in the price of petrol will result in an estimated savings of RM4.4bil in fuel subsidies, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said Tuesday.
Earlier, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Shafie Apdal gave an assurance that the Government will not raise fuel prices again this year.

and may I ask... why are Singaporean registered vehicles also enjoying subsidied fuel in JB... For crying out loud, the Singaporean dollar would mean they would only be paying something like 85 cents (SGD) which is almost half of what THEY would be paying in Singapore... on a one-to-one basis (RM vis SGD), we are screwered big time. Nobody says they can't refuel their cars but well, make them pay for what's the true cost of petrol.... or at least what they would be paying in Singapore.
Imagine 100 Singaporean cars filling up (minimum) 50 litres everyday. It would cost Malaysia approximately RM1.8million if Malaysia subsidies RM1 for every freaking litre used. RM 1,800,000.00.
Going to a Singapore food stall, a bowl of noodles would be $2.00 and a cup of tea/coffee would be on 60 cents.
Suggestion: Lets all go to work in Singapore and spend our hard earned money in Malaysia. Seems that would be the only way left to earn a decent living as the cost of everything is gonna go up...

There is not effect to all the S O B ministers and the goverment's cronies. There are all multi millionaires..wht is 30cents/litre to them???
I wonder why these minister with the salary of roughly RM 8K can afford to own bangolos and merzs..children study abroad...

How much the increase does not matter to them. If I not mistaken, the ministers are entitled to claim for reimbursement for their car travelling. Therefore, at the end of the day, we the rakyat are subsidizing them
