Somehow... seems the Book of Revelations in the Bible is ringing true
hi, some Iranians may be offended if you imply they are like Arabs... Iranians are not Arabs..they are Persians

Persians ? Arabs? Whats the diff... The mentality is still the same... same region... Heck... They are blowing each other up in the country next door because of their ethic background... Sunnis and Shiites... Persians and Arabs....

I've been to these places ... LEBANON, EGYPT, SAUDI, TEHRAN, the UAE, and they all think alike... If they don't like you - they would have evry reason in their book to whack you with... the MOB mentality is very much alive there...

The Iranians would loved to be called Persians but in reality ...This confusion is so pervasive that many do know the difference, if the subject presents itself, usually make a point of letting me know that they realize that Persians are not Arabs. When this subject arises I am usually able to surprise my interlocutor with a couple more facts. For example, most people in the west don't realize that not all Iranians are ethnically Persian(51%). Or that Iran literally means, "Land of the Aryans". This one usually stumps people because, even if they knew that Persians are not Arabs, they wouldn't have thought that the Persian race is ethnically close to western europeans. People are surprised probably because they associate Aryan with Nazi propoganda about blonde-haired and blue-eyed peoples. Another good factoid is that even though the Persian language uses the arabic script, it is an indo-european language. From here, the conversation can jump into a plethora of other discussions: Iran's multi-cultural society, the reasons for the changing of Persia's name to Iran, why Turkish is written with Latin characters while Persian is not, and so on.

I think he should channel his money back to his war torn Lebanon. It is better for him to be a hero in Lebanon than be a hero here.

Dato Farid is a seasoned politician, he knows he has nothing to lose by playing along with this "questionable" philanthrophist. If the money turns out real and this man just sucker for that extra publicity b4 giving away his cash, so be it. We got the money, he can have his publicity.

If he is fake, a billionaire "celup", Dato Farid already "exposed" this man and it is not quite easy for him to retreat.

By all accounts, I could see that Makna has this Dr. pretty much hooked on. Thousands out there need the hospital!

Maybe the STAR and NST got more serious news to follow than to play merry go round with this richest man in the world outside of US. He is only second to Bill Gates n Warren Buffett. Wow it is amazing he is in Bolehland. HaHa.

If u see in another way this Farid has already been duped by Najis. If second time kena dupe also won't affect his sound reasoning and credibility that much lah ( since the first time already done the damage ) especially when RM 1 bil is placed on the meeting table.

He just found a way out of this mess! His publicity stunt was a success and he did not/will not have to pay for single sen for it! Now his country needs his money more. The bombs could not have been dropped at a much better time (for him, of course, but not for the people in Lebanon).

Honestly I don't know why discuss further about this individual.
The fact of the matter is he's NOT fulfilled his pledge and MAKNA are most likely NOT going to see the money. End of story! Tutup mata!..dua dua mata TUTUP!

I feel the media should totally gag anymore news on this fella. The more exposure he's given, the more nonsense and run arounds he'd give out..no end. Just forget him altogether!

The circus is in Beirut now

Hi there, I'm a Lebanese guy writing from Beirut. We just saw on TV that a lebanese emigrate namely Elie Najem just donated to lebanon the following:

USD 10 Millions for the Lebanese Red Cross
USD 10 Millions for a Lebanese charity called Auxilia
2 hospitals for the value of USD 20 Millions each
Opening a branch for his Malayian Bank in Lebanon
    Establishing hotels and resorts
Depositing USD 4 Billions in a Lebanese bank called Byblos Bank
Making Lebanon a hub for his multi million dollar Palm oil businesses

The ceremony was so ooficial that it was held in the Lebanese syndicate of journalists. He had his brother in law there, PRINCE Farid Bin Abdallah along with a press attaché.

I started googeling this Najem, by the way Najem means a star in arabic which he really is. This is where i found your thread and wanted to post a reply.

I forgot to mention the most important donation he made which are 12 fire fighters donated to the Lebanese army in order to combat the Israelis....

So guys, the circus is now in Lebanon...
