    Post Information on MyKAD

    Dear Friends,

Read in papers today, and the guy advise everyone to check thier religion and get it changed ASAP.

How do I get mine checked for free and what is the procedure to get it changed. Hope I don't need proof etc.

    Thanks a Million

Where can we buy those mykad readers anyway? Curious to know what other kind of data is saved on mykad.

just got back from jpn shah alam to pick up my son's mykid. there's a kiosk in the waiting area that allows you to read the info on mykad's chip. it's only for mykad, not mykid tho.

i think one can buy the reader at jpn itself.

What you have to do and the way you have to do it is incredibly simple.
Whether you are willing to do it, that's another matter.

My family collected our mykads last week from Shah Alam and when we used the card reader available there to check our stated religion, it was not shown on that card reader. However when we checked it again on another card reader in our church, our religion was shown clearly (and mistakes were found.)

My question: How come the card reader at the Shah Alam office does not display the full information? Is it delibrate or faulty? I noticed that for Muslim, it was displayed clearly but not for non-muslims (everybody was standing close to the card reader so the information was viewed publicly.)

It just shows your MyKad, passport (if incorporated) and driver's license (if incorporated) on the screen.

One cannot check religion or any other details on that stupid machine.

One has to purchase a card reader for about RM20. But lately due to many complaints of wrong info on religion perhaps, JPN has decided to freeze the sale of such card readers, pending delivery of new models. And God knows when the new models are coming. Go figure.

I just DON'T see the reasoning why one MUST declare a religion or is a important criteria in NRIC. Is religion a condition for one's existence on this earth!.

Mykad reader is sold at JPn itself, but at most of the location they have stopped selling it. The excuse given was that the reader is slow, and they are coming up with a never version, which suppose to be faster.

There is two type of reader available, it seems. One only shows the general infomation (not sure what is the purpose if this reader, ) and the other is a PC base, which would show all the detail information on your card.

They say want if want to put religion as Kristian, have to produce baptism certificate. If not, it's automatically Buddha. So if a chinese wants to embrace Hinduism, gotta produce what? If want to practise Scientology, Judaism, Baha'i etc, then how? Should one's beliefs be made to fit within the narrow understanding of the JPN officers, who think that the world only has 3 main religions?

My mom told me if for muslim, then the religion "Muslim" will be printed on Mycard, for non muslims, there will show nothing on the physical card itself, she read it from one chinese news paper. Was that true ?
