What the heck U ate over the weekend?

had my first Ramly Special with cheese in months last saturday when i was back in Subang. very nice.

today's lunch, had a Carl's Junior Western Cheese Burger with fries, very good too.

overall, ramly still best lah - cheap too.

Roadside Ramly burger may be quite cheap or affordable, but give me a Burger King anytime...

tried out bubba gump restaurant at d curve... first tried it in kuta, bali....

western food, specialize in seafood n steak....

similar to tgif, hard rock cafe, chili's but with d 'forest gump' concept...

portions r really huge tho so make sure u r hungry!

went for a fren's bday bash... held at n'gon vietnamese restaurant @ solaris.... food is not bad... we had rice wit d beef stew, braised peppery pork, vegetarian claypot, spicy lemongrass chicken, mixed platter appetizer, spring rolls, n vietnamese beef noodles, washed down wit iced vietnamese kopi.

d dishes r tasty n what they specialize in. d noodles r normal....

price is ok.... 16 of us n its roughly rm40 per head for a good variety...

plus it was a special arrangement, so they threw in d birthday cake foc for d birthday gal....

had my only Bubba Gump in San Francisco, nothing to shout abt, it is more like New Orleans Creole Cuisine..............don't think i will want to try the one in the Curve.

i was at American 4th of July Fair in Sembawang Singapore, the Americans knows how to throw a party.........they have BrewWerks beers, steak burgers, pork ribs, pizzas and so on. besides that in the evening, even have a fireworks display to celebrate 4th of July. had good fun that evening.

We were in Genting to attend a wedding and had a yummy lunch at the Mushroom Farm. Yup, this is the place to have delicious, value-for-money food when one is in Genting. Look out for "Taman Cendawan" on the signage and you will be led to this place where one can find supermarket, dog kennel, mushroom farm, the "tai chow" restaurant, vegetable farm.

The specialty here is its "Tong Po" meat (braised belly pork in dark soya sauce). Also must try is the fresh vegie e.g. Tian Qi (no. 7), lily buds and Monkey Head Mushroom & Yi Wat (fish paste) soup. For the 1st time we ordered the Butter Fei Chow Yu (literal translation "African Fish") - similar to Butter Prawn.

For an order of:
1. Butter Fei Chow Yu
2. Tong Po Braised Pork
3. French bean shoot stir-fry with garlic
4. Potato leaves stir fry with sambal belacan
5. Tian Qi vegie stir-fry with garlic
6. Monkey Head Mushroom soup

We only pay RM180!!! That was RM18/pax as there was 10 of us on our table!

That was so much cheaper than the RM13 I paid for a bowl of tasteless Prawn Mee that I had at First World's Food Court outlet...called ??? Mee. Sorry, can't remember the name of the outlet as the Prawn Mee was not worth remembering at all! And I felt a huge pinch of my pocket too!! And suffered heartache after eating it!!! It was really lousy and expensive.

gary, that's a damn good meal with dry salted chilis. it is really good even though it sounds gooey. used to have them in india but in malaysia kinda hard to get good yogurt from mamak stalls.

I like the dry salted chillies! They taste real good with rice and curry!

hi, i was an ex-staff in genting..in my opinion, mushroom farm USED to be a value-for-money place. but not anymore. they charged like...fuh~! hmm..maybe u juz got the wrong place to have ur meal. 1st world's Kopitiam food court is certainly not the place for u to order that. but i can suggest u to have the stonegrill next time if u're there. little do tourists knows dat there is others cheap fod around rite? heheh

Hi craxzsmart, since you used to work up in Genting, you would be familiar with the eating outlets there. Why not share with us here all the delicious and reasonably-priced outlets in Genting? We can then print your list and bring it along on our trip. That'd be a great guide for Makan-Makan in Genting!

This weekend, my family dine out twice.

1) Went to Tien Kee Restaurant in SS18 (same row as Mamak Bistro/Tropicana) for Teochew and Hakka dishes. Tien Kee serves very good soup. We had:
- Sichuan preserved vegie with minced pork soup
- Salted vegie with fish & tofu soup
- Yam rice
- Hakka abacus
- Hakka pork trotters braised with dried chilli
The soup tasted delicious. Serving was small, especially the trotters.
And price wise is rather steep.

But if you want some clear, yummy soup and porridge or noodle, this is the place to go.

2) Our fave Korean restaurant in Amcorp Mall's 3rd Floor. Same row as McD.
This place serves the best kimchi chigae in town! We have tried many kimchi chigae in Desa Sri Hartamas & USJ Taipan restaurants. But non can beat this outlet's. We always request for a big bowl of this spicy, hot soup (without the set). At the same price (RM15.90), one can order for a set meal that comes with rice and other 3 side dishes, a soup and fruit. We usually order a bowl of vegetable kimchi chigae (mushrooms, vegie, kimchi, soft, yummy white tofu).

The bulgogi chicken set or spicy squid set were yum, yum!!! I have not change my order for a long while. It's alway my regular whenever I am there.

The price is value for money, food heavenly, staffs very proactive and friendly. I dropped my spoon and before I called the waiter for a spoon, he was already standing next to me with a fresh spoon and serviette!!! This is what I call exceeding customer's expectation. In order to enjoy your meal, go there early as the place tend to be crowded during meal hours and that may cause you to wait a little longer for food to be served. This will always be my fave Korean restaurant!

it was a japanese weekend for me....

had some japanese fast food at d bon odori festival in d panasonic sports stadium on sat.... cant say d food was anythin to shout about but it was interestin seein so many ppl (most of them not japanese tho!!) gathered there to watch n join in d bon odori cultural dance.... lol....

then a celebration meal at sushi tomo in ss2 on sun....

we went ala carte.... had edamame (green beans), agedashi tofu, california temaki (handrolls), softshell crab sushi, salmon teriyaki, unagi, cawan mushi, garlic fried rice, miso soup.... japanese green tea n japanese beer....

rather nice compared to a lotta other japanese restaurants that i've tried....
value-for-money.... n a lotta japanese dine there oso....

i would say their QC is good.... everythin is just right.... n d food is freshly prepared....

noticed they r a bit understaffed tho, so even tho d kitchen is fast, ie food doesn't take too long to prepare, but there r oni 2 waitresses so u may need to wait a while if u need anythin (like refill of green tea) when there r a lotta customers....

Yesterday went to Sunway Pyramid and had this Vietnamese Cuisine. Environment and service was rather quiet. Anyway, gave a shot to try this place. I went and ordered:

1. Combo platter that comes with 2 big prawns stuffed wif some lemon grass to grilled, chicken grilled and lamb grilled.
2. Fish cake (very nice)
3. Vietnamese chee cheong fun (can't remember what they called it)

Overall the dishes aren't too bad but when it arrived to our table the food wasn't really that hot as I expected it. It's just warmed and it only lasted about 5-10 mins and it's cold already.
