Nasi lemak with air-cond? Hahaha .. do you think where is applicable for it? Well, I can suggest to you to bring them to Uncle Lim in Subang Parade / Sunway Pyramid / Ikea but real way to enjoy nasi lemak is with a cup of hot coffee in a coffee shop.

Personally, if they really want to try our local food - you can bring them to SS14, Wong Soon Kee @ 3pm start their fried chicken, veges & mutton curry + sambal on rice. Woohoo ... syiokkk ... pls take note that this is not nasi lemak but just a normal rice.

I would bring him to local spots to enjoy since back in UK those fellas all can drink cheaper beer than us. UNless, your client would be someone who is not adventerous to try and see and experience local places & food.

He's based in China and his wife is a Chinese. Souled-Out has either east, west or Indian food, various varieties you can find. I brought him to a restaurant in Serdang for local Chinese food and was thinking since Souled-Out has plenty of choices, should be ok. Recommended Coconut-cooked rice aka Nasi Lemak but he ordered Indian food. Indian food definitely dances well on the British taste-buds.

    Singapore food

Ok, just came back from S'gpore again and this time I tried their famous Boon Tong Kee chicken rice. I see many people there had to Q to wait for tables. As it is a normal thing all around in Singapore so just wait after 2 mins went in - served me at the end of the shop which is actually the back way out. 3 pax so is really a bloody small table.

    Ordered:

    1. White steam chicken - not bad!
    2. Rice - 'yau fan' this is really 'yau' = oily but the aroma of the rice is there & really steamy hot.
    3. Kangkong belacan - not over cooked which is good but they use a lot of chili & oil which makes it real spicy with the lots of oil there.
    4. Fried taugeh - not appetizing at all looking at it & it's over cooked.
    5. Pot of tea - the tea is really good, after meal just drink it down can feel it washes those oily food down.

Initially I wanted to try the famous Hainanese chicken rice which is in Novena just directly opposite the church there but not my day it was close for renovation.

Oh yeah, the chili sauce they use, everyone tells me that their chili is good but when I tasted it; it's really not bad I can taste its spicy but at the same time is also sweet. I would say this is not my preferred kind of chili.

Saturday brunch I went to Crystal Jade in ToaPayoh - I ordered:

    1. Sliced fish porridge (the porridge is smooth but not enough of taste)
    2. La Mian soup w/ fried pork ribs (the pork ribs is good but the noodles are tasteless)
    3. HK Kai Lan w/ garlic (the garlic should be cut not chop garlic but the kai lan vege stem are one of the huge ones which I've ever eaten)
    4. Egg tart (very nice and the sweetnes is there but might feel is a lil too sweet)
    5. Siew Mai (it's normal but the size of it is bigger)
    6. Char Siew Pau (tasty)

All those dim sum; upon order only they start steaming it therefore time taken is slightly longer. I see other tables, most of them they order garoupa fish steam (very fresh as I see it and they will prepare the fish only upon order - take out from the aquarium).

My Saturday lunch is an enjoyable meal overall.

I went to Kuriya which is another branch of Ichiban Boshi a slightly more exclusive outlet in Great World City. They have 2 branch in that complex - one is fine dining and another is the normal sushi outlet but more exclusive than others cos they have a small mini mart that sells salmon, unagi & etc incld their sauce.

It was quite a long wait there as the Q is about 20m long. When our turn came and got a table, very quickly we open the menu and ordered:

    1. Grilled Tiger Prawns (real huge) w/ miso paste
    2. Grilled Squid on a leafs (is a type of leafs which can't be burn out)
    3. Cha Soba & Unagi rice set
    4. Chicken shabu (also have mushroom, veges & shark fin)
    5. Soft shell crab (1 plate has 3 pcs & its meaty) worth it
    6. 1 plate of hana maki (wrap salmon w/ mayonese)
    7. 1 plate of (salmon roe, top w/ mayonese & chili oil & top wif salmon) can't find it in M'sia & is something new - nice!

Lots of M'sians here is under the impression that food in S'pore 'sucks' but I think it's more of an acquired taste. The preps are slightly different e.g. wanton mee they put in ketchup(some even chilli sauce). I find it different but acceptable. Char Koay Teow also put in sweetened sauce but overall it's not exaggeratedly lousy as perceived.

Went to Naili's in Taipan on Saturday evening. Food is horrible. Hubby ordered the burrito. No flavor. I ordered the shepherd's pie. First time in my life eating a soggy shepherd's pie. The whole dish is soggy including the mash potato on the top. The wild mushroom soup does not have enough cream. Halfway through dinner, hubby saw a huge rat jumped up onto a chair and went through a hole into the drinks counter. We decided to leave then.

Sunday night had dinner at Fig & Olive in Pyramid. Our first time experience there was quite pleasant. But this time round, hubby ordered spinach pasta. The flavor does not blend, the sauce is sour and does not go well with the pasta and the muchrooms. I ordered olio penne. It was tasteless. Had to add salt on top.

No luck with food last weekend.

Went to Scarlett in Cineleisure for Happy Hr, service lousy. Went to Nirvana in Bangsar, sambal prawns damn power man! Lastly went to Social to wash down the oil with Skyy Vodka with Ribena. The best part is all this is done while it's raining cats and dogs.

Seriously, I was one of them that thinks that S'gpore food is not up to standard for me. Most of their food made there, really different from what we usually eats here. Taste different & look different. Mainly most of their food are sweet. Where as here in M'sia we can taste all kind of taste in the food from bitter to sweet to sour to spicy to something in our food.

Naili's in Taipan is definitely overrated...no plan to ever go back there, especially with Logenhaus and Strawberry Fields being so nearby. I did go to Pancake House at Sunway...this is a brand from the Philippines. Generally the food is good and the portions are big...I dont get much craving for "American" style breakfasts but I found it to be a nice place for the costs

I still prefer Paddington House of Pancakes for taste and variety tho...get that into Sunway or somewhere in SJ and I'll be there regularly.

    Cheers, m
