    New Zealand

So the big holidays are round the corner and i am contemplating to go to Kiwiland for a holiday. After much thought i have decided to see South Island on wheels meaning rent a car and lodge in the many "bed and breakfast" on the way. I love nature and countryside so i have decided the South.

How about some feedback, views and experiences from those who have been to NZ. Will apperciate to hear.

    TQ

ski, right choice to the South Island. If you are going to Queenstown, you can renew your marriage vow again by doing the bungy jump!!!! together with your wifey..... (remember Titanic, YOU JUMP, I JUMP)

It's definately a beautiful place to visit.

Oh, yes! simply the best place for relaxing and enjoy the beautiful weather and landscapes. It's very unlike Europe where places you visit are monuments, churches, palaces and etc.

Find one fine one we hang out and can tell you more ........ gotta go back to work !!!!!

Driving yourself is the best way to see NZ ...... did it three times already....
The good news is Malaysian driving license can be used in NZ ... no need to convert to international driving permit........
Many choices of car rental.... but would recommend bigger company ... Budget , AVIS .......... car rental can be done online and just collect your car when you arrive ........... plenty of choices and occasionally some bargain. You can even book your hotels online also ...or take a chance and find the hotel when you arrive in the place (with small risk of sleeping in the car overnight .. done that , no sweat)
To see south island properly needs minimum two weeks .... if you have a week, then you can only see the popular place (like Christchurch, Queenstown Milford sound) If possible, try to drive through Arthur's pass
scary driving along the road with cliff beside you and the best part, no road bend protection whatsoever. Enjoy!

Did that in 2002. Superb! We spent 3 weeks. Rented a Camry but was upgraded to Holden Commodore because 3 weeks. In fact we spent a week in North Island too. Try the Bluff oysters and green mussles. Lovely. When passing through cook mountain, make a detour to the salmon farm. Fresh! Even fried proved superb. On the way back, try Arthur Pass, scale the Glaciers, tiring but fun. I did it at >55 years! Give up the car at Greymouth and try the Trans Alps Train. Now getting summer so you get more daylight hours to see the lovely rugged country side. We did it in April, late Autumn, so sun set earler. So did not get to see the most lovely part of the train ride as it was already dark by 5 something.

It may be good to take some risks but not having pre-booked accommodation. Motels are plentyful and good choices, but only thing is now is Summer peak season, may be full.

    Wish you a happy hoilday.

Dear Ski, I'm sure it's gonna be a lovely trip for you & mrs! And nay, I have not jumped before...wanna..and if given the dare, the best way I would know how to do it or get it done is with at least one eye wide opened and probably crying for dear life..

Have a good time anyway..and seriously, don't do what I would do.

You can't do bungee jumping if u have hypertension, heart problems, back problems, epilepsy, neurological problems, orthopedic, problems, psychological problems, mosquito bites, acne, etc, etc... they'll spell it all out for u to sign on the dotted line on the 'sign-your-life-away' agreement b4 u jump! Heheheheh

*just kidding on the mosquito bites & acne*

    Have fun down under, Ski.
