Just like our hero cars i suppose.
Like those who throw plastic straws into frying oil to make whatever they fry more crispy.
I dont suppose they will do it openly. I have not seen it myself but I suppose there has to be an element of truth to it for it to be able to surface as a folklore.
Think that these side walk traders are unscrupulous?? You aint see nothing yet as compared to those big swanky multinationals corporations what they put in the things you eat and drink everyday. And highly defended by neck-tie executives, legal and lobbyists to say it is safe enough to consume though it has potential chemical deadly side effects like what they put in artificial flavorings, colorings and preservatives. And it was been documented that these corporations even put MSG into baby foods.

Believe me if you can though I unable to furnish with photos or links - where I had seen a trader who sprayed Ridsect into the rambutans he was selling from his truck. No ants near his juicy sweet rambutans. Just imagine those who dun peel off the skins with thier hands where they would sink thier teeth to pry open !
The idiot! At least in this scenario not all rambutans were affected (I hope). Besides, customers could probably pick up the Ridsect smell and sense something's not right, right? In any case, I'm not worried as I'm not fond of rambutans. Hate it when the skin of the seed sticks to the flesh which happens 90% of the time! In the case of the plastic straw in cooking oil, that is quite worrying. Wonder what the Ministry of Health is doing. Isn't it their job to ensure all is good? It is as simple as taking a sample of suspect's oil to the lab for analysis. Simple and fast. Not rocket science.
Yes but why would they want to do it? There is nothing in it for them.
Not hawker, but I am willing to bet with you banana or teh tarik that reduced prices of one of the following - veggies which has gone from green to black, chickens which from yellow gone greenish, Steaks has gone from reddish to pinkish, fishes that smelled not fishy but oxided at the major Pesco supermarkets almost everyday. Guess who buy it and cook? to proof it, you got to follow the buyers all the way to his joint and waited for him to marinate with some curry powder and poppy seeds to make tenderising and appertizing nasi kandar which were served to humans or pussy cats. Meow or Mau?
Susu. Ngau lai. Milk. Whatever you may call it. I love it! I now drinking a glass of chilled milk. My eyelids are getting heavier.
Curious. Anyone still into drinking milk or have you moved on since primary school? :p
Goodnight.
Once upon a time after the infamous loh see fun poisoning which killed consumers, my hawker at my coffeeshop complained about his noodles where he had to throw away after a day as it was supplied without traces of boric acid. After a week, it is back to normal with preservatives. Could last 3 hari sapai 5 hari kalau tak habis.
Long long time ago, when zing was baby in the usj.forum.com, cried foul when veggies rejected from Singapura authorities, they were found sold at Selayang wholesale market where it would be distributed to Klang valley and beyond like Subang Jaya and USJ. the veggies were tested exceeding many times the permissible levels by the gomen officials and reported in the mainstream papers. After that, nothing happens and that was that with the stale news.
Until and when accidents happened like the latest landslide at Ampang or the Shah Alam bungalow which runtuh and killed workers then only fingers started to point guidelines were not followed up. After that, diam diam without knowing who gets prosecuted for not complying with the lesen and rules of the game. It has been said - Bolehlander cepat lupa after a day or two. It is a bolehlander mentality of tutup mata. Amazing but true. Not biology science either.
