Does anyone know where to get the data transfer cable for an Olympus c70z?
Someone knicked it in my office :( I went to YS but the fellow said he has to look at the camera to see the pin configuration ... if its non standard pins then it'll cost about rm100 plus...

hi
I have been using card reader, some as low as RM40 with no problem. The 4 in one will be slightly higher. Try this method first until you can find a cheaper cable.

If it is a normal usb cable you can get one from imbi, lowyat or sunway pyramid but I have not have a sample yet, so cant help.

Do visit our sister photography web forum at :

if the USB is the same as my C740UZ, any USB cable would work.... i'm using the cable for my USB reader on my Cam as well.

Have no fear of expensive camera shops fleecing you! Most accessories & consumables from camera shops are EXPENSIVE! In Low Yat one can get the cable and memory cards at bargain prices!.
Goto Low Yat Plaza 2nd floor computer shops..Sri Computer..on the floor in boxes with a wide array of various cables for most PC use. Another shop on the same floor that sells laptop batteries and network cables HAVE the camera cable you need. One can easily find this for approx Rm 20 bucks or even less, depending on length needed. Get a length of at least 1.5Meters. Bring along your camera and test fit before buying if in doubt!.
OR, if you need a card reader (easier & faster reading from memory card) buy the Apacer 14-1 card reader which COMES with the same USB cable inside the packing. It costs 50 bucks there. BTW, the Apacer READS xD picture card too although its not documented on the packing..(I think they're not paying royalties for it)!.

Kress, looks pretty standard USB-PC cable but before buying, try it out first. :D

I think my P&S sony uses the same cable, similar also my canon P&S.

Thanks arwen.

You can buy such cable from SUnway Pyramid IT shop but do bring a Notebook to try if it works. Alternately buy a CARD READER, around RM40.

sorry for the lack of reply.... had training....
anyway thanks a lot guys... i bought it at fotokem at sunway pyrmiad for 45 buxs
apparently it isn't standard because the "head" that pokes into the camera is smaller than the standard ones (even my nikon cables can't fit in)

also sorry if i didn't make it clear... this camera is supposed to be for taking and printing staff photos for printing of staff cards...so the data transmission has to be real time.... i.e. cannot plug in mem card and plug out.

anyway thanks.... :D

No problem.

You print staff cards on a card printer? Solid plastic card? I am looking for one solid one.

yes i do.... i'm not the manufacturer though.. just the support dude...
and they are very expensive..... each card costs 50 cents.... ribbon costs rm 1000 for color (for 1000 prints) and rm 500 for the glossy covering ribbon (mandatory to protect the color)...
the printer itself costs rm 15k i think... but i'm rambling... i could try and find one for you... i saw a flyer once advertising for 10k or less i think.....
