Hello gang!
I'll get it going by giving those of you who don't have the book yet a synopsis -
September 1952. The cotton is almost ready in the fields of Arkansas. The harvest will soon begin. Luke Chandler is a seven eyar old boy who libes with his family in a small, unpainted house on rented land. In the next six weeks, the Chandlers and a hired band of hill people and Mexicans must bring in the cotton that is their livelihood and the guarantee of their survival on the land. Soon heat, rain, fatigue, a killing and the unravelling of a family secret threaten to destroy the Chandler's hopes and will transport Luke abruptly from childhood innocence to experience.
I was browsing at Payless shop at Ampang Park lunch break today....saw this book selling at RM12.50.
So cheap....I bought mine expensive :(
Dear Sham and gang, I must be dumb or somethin'.
Bought the book last weekend from MPH, started reading...tried...and tried....still tried yesterday night..but giving up already!!! Not my cup of tea; especially if it's about life at a cotton field in the South!!! If it's life in exciting Manhattan, perhaps still can swallow... :o ...anyone wants the book? FOC? Please pm me. I can deliver it to your doorstep.
Sham, I think i'd appreciate the Mandolin better..will let you know how it goes later..Thanks! :o

Hi, maybe you would like to try reading these books...It's light reading and very, very funny. "Dancing in a distance place" by Isla Dewar. , "No wonder I take a drink" by Laura Marney (This one is really laugh out loud funny!!) or "The dog walker" by Leslie schnur or how about "Good grief" by Lolly Winston
