So far I never had such problem. Cross my fingers :D
What type of decoder you are using now? Probably you need to autoupdate your software or reinstall it...

Anybody here subscribe to Celestial Movies channel 39? I wonder why some movies are banned to showing at Assthrow but allowed to telecast in Hongkong? Eg., Golden Chicken 2. Don't tell me that Celestial Movies have double standard in Malaysia telecast? I thought Celestial Movies is a wholly-owned company by Assthrow...

Yes, Like many others, a few channels suddenly just disappear after mid night. include 50, 93, ESPN etc.
When I complain to astro I was told i was no. 21 in the queue by the canned voice. It is impossible to get them in the morning. Line always engaged.

I was told there are a lot of complaints of this issues but no answers to the problem. Instead a contracted ASTRO engineer called to offer an onsite service. The cost is RM50.00 I told them the problem lies with ASTRO because all the problems disappear the next morning.

Someone is sleeping on the job?

Astro should improve the service at call center and be more transparent with their technical problems.

It is with great relief that this thread came out. I live in Labuan and I thought the management of my apartment has screwed up my ASTRO dish.

It started to happen around 2 weeks ago. I can't watch the US Open Tennis Match Semi-final.

Can anyone who knew someone in ASTRO inform them about it and get them to repair it ? Or else I have to write another nasty letter to them and copy to this 2 monkeys.

just my 2 sen here.... when I've finished watching, I always put the astro decoder on standby mode... I know in past year, they had a few auto updates....

Another thing... can't remember who told me this... in one of the menus, got a manual dowload of services....it acts like a reset default switch.... donno how true this is...

i beg to differ. My decoder is always ON. I have tried the Manual download as recommended by Call center still having this missing channels problem after mid night. I have tried the warn and hard reset but still no good. My signal register 63 gain.
Yes, it works faultlessly during the day but not after mid night.

My signal shows 70... has gone as high as 72..... just wondering out loud... can we use 2 or 3 dishes join all the wires via spliter into a single decoder? would it improve the signal quality?

The signal strength depends on :
1) the location (geographical location)
2) the decoder hardware
3) LNB
4) the use of splitter (if any)
5) weather condition

when the channel not clear or no reception, it was due to windy day.. or rainy day.. this was confirmed by astro last time when we complained.

nothing can the astro do.. sad.

monster, i think very unlikely. firstly, the receiving signals rely on the dish to intercept the off air signals and divert the signals to the LNB. Therefore the alignment of the LNB is very critical of establishing good reception. Hence, the decoder has a very high input sensitity, meaning they may just required a very small amount of signals to decode.

Perhaps, these are the few factors that contribute to poor reception:

1. Poor alignment between the LNB and the dish.
2. Cable from the LNB to the decoder is too long.
3. Unexplainable phenomenon happened in that particular area !!!:D j/k

Get the installer to check the cable and if it's the cause, perhaps replace it with a better cable. Cables do degrade after some time especially in an open area. OR add a satelite line booster.

Good day.

From what i understand Astro is carrying out some satellite maintenance after midnight, and in some areas one might lose your siginals while they are at it. This maintence is on going, and you need to call Astro and get your dish realigned by their techinicians and you to do some adjustments to your decoder and TV. Many were affected and have got their dish realigned.
Btw the way the best time to call them is usually at night and have to be a little patient if you really want to watch those channels.

oic, means you only recive auto-updates when decoder on standby ?? otherwise you are "viewibg" the channel that is set and cannot receive updates while viewing ??? do i see this correct? anyway thx for the tip, oso will try 2nite, tomorrow 1:00 am is f1 man

Did you do manual autoupdate and download list of services? Check with the astro to see what software version you should be having rite now in your decoder.

What call are you waiting for ? appointment for technician ?

like pokemon suggests .. first off the decoder..off the power supply.. remove card.. replace after 15 secs.. on the power supply.. go to main menu.. check signal.. if good.. download all .. then shuld be ok.. if not bring decoder to Philips.. if still not ok.. then theres always MiTV.. ;)
