Err...all those rampant n hard to control...freaking ciggy illicit smuggling business....thrives on 1 thang...ahem...that being...duty n tax on tobacco products...have been rising high...over the course of time...
Ahem...so what the gomen got since...has been very much short of the expected collections of dutiable n taxable revenues from the sales of those tobacco products...due to those rampant ciggy illicit smuggling business...taking chances to make more freaking money...by NOT having to pay any duty n tax...
The gomen really never learnt also...that by rapid increasing of the duty n tax on tobacco...during the annual 'budgetary rituals'...hoarding would inevitably occur...as the so called 'standard practices' since...by them freaking unscrupulous tobacco importers n traders...knowing that they could make more freaking money...from the increase in retail prices of the ciggies...immediately after the yearly budgetary announcements...
Err...should they come to their freaking senses soon...not only would they collect more revenues from tobacco...by 'discouraging' ciggy illicit smuggling business...they could also 'weed out' n punish those freaking importers n traders...by reducing this year's duty n tax for all tobacco products...by err...ahem...50%!

Like that where can - all the local Tobacco farmers will kaput and migrate to stronger stuff..... ;) Our gormen in the protection business lah, must protect local industries. So for these farmers to prosper and be subsidised, a hike of 500% may just cover it. :D
