I wonder if there is any site that charges the surfer through the phone line. Our company is having problem with an unknown number to Korea listed in the phone bill. It actually appears every month and the FM is trying to investigate and ask everybody in the office if any of us surf such site. I am confused because I have never heard such stupid nonsense.... I hope somebody would shed some light here.

Very soon....your FM would ban all of you from surfing... :(

Likely to be porno site lah...........or someone calling Korea fixed line via the PC. You can always dispute the charges with TM and let them investigate.

first to clarify: you don't make voice calls on data lines, only voice lines. So, if everyone in the office access the Internet via LAN, then you're probably using a router hence unlikely you're unlikely to get billed when accessing websites as those dialer programs won't work.

the only way those dialers will work is via modems so all users with modem with phone lines connected are suspect. If they're dialling out through direct lines then it'll be easier to determine the culprit however if they're calling out using the general line, that could be a problem.

If I'm not wrong, most offices use PABX or keyphone systems and most of them bar outgoing IDD and mobile numbers and allow select few. There should be a phone log somewhere but you might need help from your vendor to access it.

Easy way is to go to Kedai Telekom/TM Point and request for no IDD.

Apply only one for IDD if required and use it for fax.
