Need help to find out if a house buyer bought a 2nd hand house, how does he get the name for electricity & water bills transferred to his name? How much deposit to pay for each.

Would anyone has any experience with this recently? Care to share how you go about with the procedures? Don't want to be running all over town to do it.
Thanks.

Arm yourself with the S&P and the latest bill if possible which will make the cut off reading easier. If previous owner has terminate services then much easier. Head to tnb and syabas with some money for deposit...rm500 should suffice for both unless it is 3phase power..and it should be a breeze.

i just did both of those yesterday.

i just bought a second hand house in usj and i had to get all those done. ok, here goes:

1. you have to get the previous owner to pay up and disconnect the supply for both. tnb and puas (or syabas, as their customer service is now known by) will give a letter stating that the amount have been paid up and disconnected.

2. get a copy of that letter, a photocopy of your s&p, plus a photocopy of applicant's ic.

3. puas is in jalan templer in pj. the application office in on the ground floor of the front building. just get the form from them, fill it up and submit. the clerk will enter your particulars into the system and give you a form to go to the payment counter. it's rm10 for connection and rm100 for deposit. all in all rm110.

4. tnb in subang is in ss15. at the subang square. same thing applies. copy of letter, copy of s&p and copy of applicant's ic. oh yeah, try to remember if the electricity meter is still at your property.

once you get there, get a number for "pertanyaan" and wait for your turn. same thing applies here too. fill in form and pay rm 313. 300 for deposit, 10 for stamp duties, and 3 for processing fee.

done.

Hi Twohands,

Thanks a lot for your help. I went to TNB in SS15, took me almost an hour - including of journey, parking, waiting for my no. to be called and drive home.
But since I don't bring all my docs, I have to go back there again tomorrow!!!

How good if all the info is available online! Went on TNB's website last nite and couldn't find the info!!!

That's why I always post on this forum coz I can save so much time when nice members like you share their info with us. Thanks a heap!! Your reply save me the journey to Jalan Templar.

you're welcome rolypoly :)

yup, the tnb in ss15 is very inconvenient. reach there about 3pm. i went rounding 1 time only and then straight away drive into their private underground parking. paid 1.50 for the 1 hour. had quite a wait in the tnb. almost an hour just to get to my turn. had 2 people manning the counters, but one of them very lazy and lembap.

on the other hand, puas was quite good. managed to get a parking within their compound (parking is behind the main front building). got a form, filled in, didn't have to wait. took the clerk about 3 mins to type in particulars, queue for 2 mins, paid up and was out of there. and i was there at about 12.40pm, almost lunch time.

Untung you if you decide to default and run away i.e. TNB & PUAS goes after previous owner lah. :D

But problem - if you decide to sell your house and the new owner want a transfer. How? :p
