1. Jaws ( had to wrap bolster around my neck for weeks-1st movie when little)

2. Evil Dead ( scariest when girl ran into the woods, raped and killed by demonic trees!)

3. The Exorcist ( Linda Blair still freaks me out till today..)

4. The Eye (blind woman sees uncle floatin' in lift, dead boy and his report card, entity screaming at blind woman etc..couldn't sleep for 2 days)

5. Ju-On ( lady with drooping hair over bed..not scared of the last part tho..)

mon

6. Final Destination ( this is one that made me jump up. Guy cheated death, the catastrophe keeps coming back to claim him and the rest..)

7. hey, nobody watch scary movies here ka? ;) ;)

I like scary movies that are not so 'in-your-face'. I like it a little bit more subtle. For example, The Others with Nicole Kidman was good. And who can forget The Blair Witch Project......seram sekali!

Want to hear a REAL scary movie? Go watch Three Men and a Baby. In a scene (around that part-lah) where Ted Denson's mother came to visit him. the mother passes a sliding door, and at the corner of the sliding door you can see a boy standing there. Let's just say that boy was not an actor or sesat extra who wasn't supposed to be there! According to cast and crew, no one noticed the boy during filming of the scene.

This is true ... HONEST! Get the VCD or DVD and watch it. The show somehow is not as funny after that scene..........

...i wonder if Blair Witch is based on a true story?

wanted to watch the Nicole Kidman's The others again but after knowing the end of story, sort of no mystery anymore..

Will try to get 3 men & a baby soon, it's giving me goosebumps already, thanks!

No ghost stories can make me scared that why I even laugh at the ghost character. I do love thriller and horor just because of its cinematography... for horor the 13th Ghost & Constatine have good effects and thriller I haven't come across the best but I think Texas Chainsaw Massacre (based on true story) was quite ok...

I'm waiting for the Exorcism of Emily Rose (based on true story) but its more towards mystery rather than horor opening in September (US).

You guys watched Salem's Lot? Was only 10 when we went to REX in KL to watch it. Bloody scary, joe.

All time fav has to be The Exorcist. Still gives me the creeps till this day as I have a DVD copy which I watch once a blue moon. And it's based on a true story some more.

If I'm not mistaken the actress is the one who stared in Ring O... (correct me if I'm wrong.... :p) If she is, I rather wait for KingKong she's the screaming queen. No wonder she was offered lots of horror movies role :D

Hmm..Exorcist nice..The Others nice also..
The final destination 1 and 2 wow..shocking cool..All the blood and violent..
Nice nice..In final destination..Wow will be thinking he/she going to died...how ? the anticipation of death is so real and scary ..keke..And the blood wow..

The Others..also nice..Dark atmosphera..since the story of this family children that got genetic disease so cannot expose to light..will fall sick and died..So the mom ( tom cruise ex wife) very protective of the children..they live in this house..the house haunted...THEN GOT BIG twist hahahaha...Powerful story twist..

JeeperCreepers...actually no so nice..THe story is shallow...And not so scary and not so much of action..Actually not nice ah..

Blair Witch..aiyo..i think is the worst ah..No action , not scary..Just the out of focus camera work on the actors face here and there..THat all..

Constantine is better..THe actions are cool ..The story line in nice..The CGI and effect is good..! Acting is nice with KEenu Reeves...and the other girl..keke.

ey, I think it is Jennifer Connely who is starring in Dark Water. She also co-starred as Hulk's syt in Hulk. Hum, haven't watched King Kong but if I'm not wrong, Naomi Watts. Think she won an emmy for her role in a movie that has a road title or something.... :o

The Exorcist ar... I got the DVD, last time watch it on LD & VCD also... didn't scare me at all :p
Here's my spooky/scary list:
- The Eye (HongKong, the char siew part makes me don't want to eat char siew for a long long time :D)
- The Eye 2 also not bad, but The Eye 1 is way better... forget about the latest The Eye10, which is a joke... is more of a comedy than a horror movie
- The Tale of Two Sisters (Korean, got very nice psychology effect that will scare the sh1t outta you, nice ending too :D)
- Psycho series (who can forget the name Norman Bates, and the bathroom scene ;) )
- Jaws (forget the last few series... the original is the best. Makes me don't want to go into sea for long long time)
- Sixth Sense (I see dead people... )
- The Others (fantastic ending, but overall similiar to Sixth Sense)

Basically now there's no movies that actually can scares me, except those cheap " sudden jump into you face" type to make you jump from your seat lar... cheap thrill but no fun... I prefer more of the psychology scare

Anyone into gaming should have heard of the Silent Hill series and Fatal Frame series. Until today I'm still unable to finish any of the Fatal Frame game... waaaay to scary :(

grey shadow, as opposed to u, i dont find the eye that scary.. but exorcist, especially the director's cut, scared the toot out of me!
some interesting facts on exorcist:

The bedroom set had to be refrigerated to capture the authentic icy breath of the actors in the exorcizing scenes. Linda Blair, who was only in a flimsy nightgown, says to this day she cannot stand being cold.

Director Friedkin eventually asked technical advisor Rev. Thomas Bermingham to exorcise the set. He refused, saying an exorcism might increase anxiety. Rev. Bermingham wound up visiting the set and gave a blessing and talk to reassure the cast and crew.

There are tales about ominous events surrounding the year-long shoot, including the deaths of nine people associated with the production and stories about a mysterious fire that destroyed the set one weekend. Actors Jack MacGowran & Vasiliki Maliaros died before the film was released

When originally released in the UK a number of town councils imposed a complete ban on the showing of the film. This led to the bizarre spectacle of "Exorcist Bus Trips" where enterprising travel companies organised buses to take groups to the nearest town where the film was showing.

When released in 1973, the film caused such mass hysteria, with people screaming, fainting and paramedics being called to theaters, making it one of the most controversial films ever made.

Reverend William O'Malley has told students, that the movie is approximately 80% true. He claims the big discrepancies between the movie and reality were: it was a boy who was possessed not a girl; the possession did not occur in Georgetown, it occurred outside DC in MD; and the color of the "pea-soup vomit" was not green. He claims most everything else in the movie did actually occur.

Me not yet. Just watched Emily Rose yesterday night. Have you watched it?
Like Cherry said, it's a good show. Thought it was gonna be horrifying but instead, it unfolds into something like a strange hybrid of courtroom drama and 70s-era hysteric shock-horror. They plunge straight into the world of big city law like in Law and Order..and the rest of Emily’s story is told in dream-logic heavy flashback.

Monty Python & The Holy Grail? Good funny spooks? If you don't mind, what about? Thanks for the recommendations!

Anyone into Thai scary movie? Or into some creative use of cameras as a ghost-seing tool? Watched this yesterday night..pretty scary..watched mostly the bottom with hands closing the top of my tv screen..hehe..

About a photographer (Tun) and his gf (Jane) who hit & run a fatal accident. The accident victim, a lady, comes back to haunt them.

While taking photos at a graduation, Tun begins seeing a pale, long-haired woman. Also, shadows begin appearing in his photos and negatives. The shadows usually resemble indistinct white shapes, but sometimes a ghostly profile.. or full-on face.. appears in the photos. Jane isn't doing so hot either.. she encounters a long-haired woman pulling herself out of the sink in Tun's darkroom. The 'ghost' is pissed.

Then comes the suspense and the big secret, some of it quite familiar, the image of the pale long haired girl and all..but still, it worked..hehe..

I think it's an engaging scary movie..ok to watch if you still delight in the pale, long haired..

Calista, a young nurse, is sent to help out in a hospital where she soon discover something odd and haunting about that place...all the children are nervous and afraid of some invisible force. Not released in cinemas yet but the trailer sure looks chilling and frightening.

Tell me about it. I had to cover my neck for weeks with a bolster after watching Jaws! Not even a ghost movie ok. :p And after watching The Eye, I was afraid to sleep without the lights for days and wouldn't dare to close my eyes even when I had soap in my eyes washing my hair in the shower. Silly me. But what do you know, I still love watching those scary movies. :D

Sawded 'saw 3' and it was too gory beyond words. Not for the faint hearted eh :P

Just watched 'Ghost Game', a thai production, that tells the story of a team of 11 contestants, who signed up for a reality game show, in which they had to live in an abandoned, ancient prison/war museum in Cambodia. 20 years ago behind the walls of this prison, thousands were killed and suffered horrifying tortures to death, and now, the contestants were forced to face the ghosts of the past, and the one who could withstand all fears of supernaturals will stand to win a handsome amount of money. Can't remember how much liao.

Anyway, the movie was quite engaging, with ok special effects. What I think was really good was the acting, the fears portrayed by the actors were very real.

And another thing, when the contestants signed up for the game, little did they know, that they were also expected to risk their lives....heh heh heh..

Yeah..Ghost Game is quite a watch, kinda like the Blair Witch. Oh yes, I've watched the Descent, well, I have to say it was pretty scary, the darkness in the cave and those short, ugly, skinny, slimy creatures being so creepy and jumping out from everywhere eek!

I've just watched The Dorm over the weekend. Anyone watched this? I think its the best Thai 'ghost' story since Nang Nak. I strongly recommend anyone to watch it. Been a long time since a Thai 'ghost / horror' movie kept me awake the whole duration. :p

I must get those 2, Nang Nak (http://www.thailandlife.com/nangnak01.html) and the Dorm :P Thanks for the recommendation iml109.

Was watching a horror movie documentary on Discovery just a few weeks back, where real events, local myths and fictional stories from all over Asia like Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan and Korea were tapped and made into movies and one of the very popular ones were Nang Nak. Among others shown on the documentary were Jelangkung, The Eye and Shutter.

Those movies are not the ones where 'they' jump everywhere and 'they' can't see you if you're not breathing kind or the kind which has a vampire that flies around in a bat suit and fangs..

Those are the real scary ones.

 :p

iml109, I thought Shutters albeit rather slow, it was very frightening, esp the part when he discovered why his shoulders were feeling the pain and all...and it was actually... :p Ya la, they had to choose a white faced ghost with long hair and skinny so ppl could imagine her floating around.... :p

I wonder why they don't use a fat ghost for a change..:P

This is what I'd normally do, when watching those scary scenes at home, I'd cover half of my eyes with my hands.. I'd watch the bottom part first, (usually the face parts are scarier I think..) then later, rewind and watch the same scene again (eyes still half covered but the top part this time) :P In the cinemas, I'd do the same, so too bad, I would've to miss those really scary scenes la. :P

But I've been had once. It was a scene in either The Ring, The Eye or Dark Water when the lady ghost was seen to be walking slowly..very slowly.. towards the camera... and as usual, I had half of my eyes covered (like very clever), and was watching the bottom part, but holy molly! her face popped up from below the screen!! I nearly wanted to call mommy to come pick me! :p

I thought..when ppl pass on, their family members would get their faces made up. So if, they came back as ghosts, shouldn't they look the same way as when they departed?

About the long haired ghosts, do you realize the lady ghosts in most movies usually have limp, thin hair and not curly ones? or maybe, they just wanna use their long, straight hair to cover their faces, so that only those blood shot eyes can be seen.. :p

I think, if they had short hair, there would be nothing left for the audiences' minds to imagine...but wait, Nang Nak has short hair. That's a first.

Yup. :( I think when people are so full of jealousy, they do all things they possibly can think of to tear others down. And those people, did not stop till they got rid of her, so as to prove their so called 'point' la. But too bad for them at the end..Anyway, 'nak' just wanted to make 'mak' happy, to be able to serve him for as long as she could, she knew her time to leave was soon..but those people were so bad. At the end, even the terror medium couldn't destroy her, thank goodness for the higher dignitary monk.

Talking bout' non-scary ghost movies, I've just watched a non-ghost scary movie on Astro channel 42. It was scarier than any horror movie story I've watched this year and so very disturbing, as it's based on a true event (oh sharks..:().

It's about 2 scuba divers who were left in the open seas by their tour guides and they drifted helplessly in the waters fighting off jellyfish and sharks for endless hours. Frightening. It makes you feel as if you were in the waters with them as they drifted back and forth on the tides. The filming was mostly done showing the 2 waiting hopelessly floating in the water and the sharks taking their very slow meals... Sigh.. I really hope that that was a bluff, that it wasn't a true event. Just hope that there hasn't been any more recurrence on this kind of blunder made by those incompetent scuba tour guides. The end to this story is really heart sickening.

Just finished watching The Sisters (http://www.dvdcult.com/rev_Sisters.htm) (based on a true story it seems..).

It has quite a decent story line to it. It began with a rock group of musicians finding their stay at a low budget thai motel after one of their concerts. But little did they know, there, in their room 409, a female had been murdered and SPOILER COMING!

...she was beheaded and her head was put into the air conditioning vent on the ceiling. Within the same night, each band member was slowly drawn to a mysterious strip of white cloth hanging down from the vent...and what did they see?

The ghost. The long haired female, and she was moving down towards them..

Creepy. It really made me jump a lot. :p

nite.

The only movie I've been searching for so long but couldn't find is 3 men and a baby. Still searching..

It says that the figure of the 'boy' (the one standing behind the curtain against the window) looked 'slightly' different..but hey man, I think it's not slightly but a whole lot of difference la. If that was Ted Danson's standee, don't you think it looked a little too short altho looking from a distance and from a different angle? And where are his arms? The 'boy' didn't seem to have any 'out-stretched' arms like Ted's standee..?
