At the Ms. Read Boutique in One Utama new wing , they have a cafe named Delicious and they served really superb Carrot Cake, Chocolate cake and Shepherd's Pie. I haven't tried the brownies yet but I will let you know once I tried it...

I think it is quite difficult to find a lousy brownie :D As long as it is sweet but not too too sweet, moist, somewhat chewy, and full of chocolatey tastes, yummm.... :p

hmm, come to think of it, I've actually tasted some not so nice brownies, mostly bought from the local bakeries, they are too fluffy--brownies are supposed to be dense and chewy and not fluffy. So it's important to find the right places to buy your brownies too, heheh. :)

I've never expected food served in Dome Cafe to be very good, and their cakes n such are supplied from external sources, sometimes can be good, can be bad.

After all they're more a cafe than a restaurant. I remember their first outlet years ago in Isetan Lot10(I think), the sandwich was very good at the time but pricey. All these desserts, salad, and hot meals are part of their expanded menu to give customers more choices, similar to the new Delifrance menu. These joints are in business of providing food n beverages for social meet ups, light snacks and some R&R for tired shoppers. In my perception they are the same category as Secret Recipe, Delifrance, LaManila, etc, not in a 'restaurant' class. Even CoffeeBean and Starbucks are serving limited selection of hot food nowadays.

Do u ever noticed those lamb shanks/stew or meat dishes they serve in Secret Recipe & Delifrance(in their new menu) are pre-cooked(probably from a central kitchen and packaged for distribution to all the outlets)? Same as how the cheesecakes, pastries and cakes are baked and sent to all outlets. ;)

Sorry, off topic a bit.... :D

I used to make some really nice brownies back in college days which won over some college girls' hearts(earned many many brownie points!):D but nowadays, hmm, 1)lost the recipe, 2) can't find authentic ingredients, 3)no full sized oven in Malaysian home leh, 4)most importantly, home minister will never let me use the brownie trick to woo girls, heheheh :p

So find a recipe and make yourself some home made brownies!

Aiseh, that's what i intend to do, just talking only. Coz I don't have the recipe anymore(it was a home recipe passed down by an American friend) and sort of quit cooking/baking since married lah. No intention to start baking ler, if I go and buy an oven to bake brownies and the neighbouring housewives start to congregate at my kitchen the wifey will be furious lah! :D :D

Actually anyone can make good brownies if u got the recipe and go thru some trial and error. The ingredients are no secret, just flour, chocolate or coco powder, eggs and sugar, if I remember correctly. Maybe u can try and download from the web or get a box of brownie mix from the stoe. :D

Hi,

We're pretty glad you people share our view that good brownies are really hard to find. Most of the ones out there are either cakey, too sweet or simply a dissapointment. The only good ones are very expensive or have closed down, such as Mrs. Fields in KLCC.

We have kind of started our small business because of that. Since we are also kaki makan like you lot, we go around and tastes what's out there and have to admit there's nothing like 'The Classic' brownies we make. We don't like to brag, but we do make wicked brownies, hehe...You'll get the whole story plus extras on our blog nibblesnbites.blogspot.com.

Please do come and visit us and leave a comment. You could also put your order there or simply write to us at nibbles.n.bites@hotmail.com. See you there!
