Hi, I am an Aussie who loves Malaysia. We just came back from a trip to an Indian celebration in Sungei Petani. They cooked a dish called chicken vurval, and then I ate it almost every day when we went to Penang (at Ananda Bhavan in Penang Rd). My God - so shiok (Yummy!). I MUST HAVE the recipe :D . I was told we need Kecap Pekat so I bought three bottles and brought them to Australia - but can someone PLEASE ask their mum (or dad) what's in it?

I found plenty of Chettiar versions on the web, but they don't have the Kecap Pekat so I am sure the Malaysian one is a little different.

Thanks in hope

Lyn

Chicken varuval is one of my favourite South Indian dishes!!
I like the one served at the banana leaf stall in SS19's Pan Meen coffee shop.
I have been eating their chicken varuval for years but still continue to take the same dish whenever I am there.

If anyone has their family secret recipe for Chicken Varuval, pls, pls, pls, post it here for us to share!!
