Can someone tell me where is the FASTEST and hassle free JPN location (if that ever exist) for me to apply for MyKad ?

I went to the one in Puchong today at about 12.30pm

As expected, "nombor sudah habis, encik datang esok lah"

Checked with the people around that area and they told me that this branch will process about 100 applications per day. And if you wanna be that bunch of 100 people, you have to line up for nombor as early as 6.00 am !!!!

So much for being efficient.

Anyway, any ideas?

Thanks.

Took my parents to Putrajaya for Mykad 2 months ago (during weekday). Left USJ ard 9 am & reached Putrajaya in 30 mins time incl. looking for parking & exact location of JPN.

Application was completed is less than 30 mins (incl. completing the form). Longer time might be required for photo session as I noticed the officer (on that day) wasn't familiar with the equipment... :D

Parents got their kads after 1.5 months (please check online on the card status instead of waiting for the letter from JPN!). Compared with my bro who did his MyKad in Shah Alam, the card was ready in less than a month. According to him, his application was done is less than one hour also...

I was actually so lazy to go and apply the Mycard....thinking have to get up so early and Q for the number. Then my dad asked me to do it back at my hometown.....it only took me and my husband 10 min to "kaou tiam"....now am waiting to collect.. :D It was monday and I was told most of the residents in the small town has get their Mycard done.

If you have the transport go to PutraJaya.

I was there today, it was a breeze even at 11.00am, I understand that they open until 5.30pm.

Not sure if the branch in Persiaran Barat, Jln Sultan is recommended...2 months ago, I called up to check if I can still renew MyKad or I should go to Putrajaya. The officer I spoke to said I can still apply it there but do expect it'll be crowded since not all counters are in full operation. Some people prefer to go to Putrajaya since Putrajaya outlet has more staffs.

The next day, I was at Persiaran Barat at 0800 hours but stupid guard didn't allow me to enter. He said I should go to Putrajaya instead! Waited for couple of minutes and few more others showed up & this time, the guard pad-locked the gate and shouted at those standing behind the gate!

When I reached Putrajaya, I asked the officer wat happened to the outlet in Persiaran Barat. I conveyed what happened when I was there earlier and all the officer does was, SMILED!!!!!

What's the moto of the govt depts again??? BERSIH, CEKAP & AMANAH????? Perhaps that was really a good example...

The only time a govt agency is nice, helpful, willing, work late, open more counters.......is WHEN THEY WANT TO COLLECT MONEY FROM YOU ! Best example being Jabatan Hasil Dalam Negri.

Other than that, always "isi borang", "ambil nombor", "tunggu", "nanti", "belum siap", "pegawai tak ada", blah blah blah

And, when it comes to isi borang and ambil nombor, be sure to notice touts and runners doing these for a fee (while you can also be sure that there are notices pasted all over to inform the public that touts and runners are not allowed!)

Hi
Then I should consider myself very lucky. Mine was done here..did not want to drive so far to Putra Jaya and get lost and also it wasnt very urgent either.

Arrived at 7.45 on a Wednesday there were abt 100ppl waiting. By 9.45 I was off to work. I found the staff very pleasant and efficient.
I got Mykad within 5 weeks.

Somehow, that's really the govt depts' CULTURE...

I accompanied my parents just to ensure that things go well eventhough I know my parents are able to manage even without my presence...

Not that I wish to be dis-respectful about govt staffs but I'd personally eye-witnessed how rule they were towards elderly folks esp. those who encountered problem filling up the forms...

hahaha.... the joke is on you Chang.

There is a Senior Citizen's "express counter", so no need to stand in line. Even if the place is full the SCs get privilege over others. I wish I was a SC, have to wait a number of years yet.

By the way at Putrajaya you do not need to stand in line, you get to sit and wait.

In this case, maybe it's wise to check the definition of "Senior Citizen"...

When my parents had their passports renewed at Terminal 2 Subang couple of months ago, they queued at the SC lane, having the perception that they're supposed to get PRIVILEGE over others, at least the queue is shorter which should equals to faster processing, right?

Mind you, they're still given a queue number but what really pissed me off was the queue for SCs were not even moving when others at the normal lane were already done with theirs. What's the point of having the SC lane then?

What really amazed me was when I took up the issue to the officer, all he does was, took out a calculator to check if both my parents' were issued the correct ticket (ie SCs' lane ticket) based on their age. That's really an efficient way to set the category for SENIOR CITIZENS, don you think so????

So, what's the problem here? Was it the intelligence of the ppl working there or something went wrong with the procedures?????

PS: Sorry ah, out of topic a bit.... :)

First of all, I must say PutraJaya is SUPER efficient!

Went there today at 11.30am, finished the whole thing in 10 minutes......

So, I must say, the only time a govt agency is fast and efficient is when they collect money from you and/or when they are based in PutraJaya :D

Rachel,

As for the SC lane, maybe just for show only lah. Or maybe manned by equally SGE (Senior Govt Employee) who works as slow as well due to their age......LOL !

I went to Putrajaya yesterday at 2 pm to renew 3 Mykad and everything was over in 15 minutes. The counter girls were practically twiddling their thumbs for lack of work.

The road where the National Registration building is, I have to say that they did a very good job with the buildings, landscape, environment etc. It must be the prettiest place in the whole country. I wish they will do that for SJ/USJ too.

Perhaps one alternative to really assist the rakyat! Why can't they extend services by going mobile ah?...there're so many jobless and fresh job hunters. Don't tell me this needs rocket qualification to do the job.The JPN boss probably has either severe lack of inguinity or an attitude problem. Sigh!..maybe I suppose they're after to rake in fines of all the late doers. Its more revenue for the coffers mah!...
I reckon I would now give due respect to JHDN at least, that they do extend some assistance public assistance and make life a little easier.
geee.. look at what we're all talking about!..discussing where is the easiest and convenient place to get it done!.Must we the rakyat resort to these measures?..

I had my done in the Labuan office. Took the 7.30am Sri Anna ferry there, pop in and had the MyKad done in less than 10 minutes, went to renew passport, done in an hour. Both offices were in the same building.

As usual, stop by for banana leaf lunch at the seafront shop and have a few duty-free Heineken tall cans before taking the 4.30 Sri Anna ferry back to Muara, Brunei.

What a nice Saturday, wish I could renew my MyKad every Saturday in Labuan. :D

Who said there will be fines?
What's happening now is simply that the registration department is waiving the fee for MyKad hence it is free if you get it registered before end of 2005. After that the fee is imposed. It is NOT a fine. It is amazing how the mind twists what it wants to perceive!

Mine was done in shah alam, but that was december last year. The waiting was quite long since ramai orang, but we were attended very systematicly.

What I heard, the queue there is getting worse now, so, find other alternatives.

By the way, will KDN going after those without my card next year??? I too need to bring my folks to change theirs. And robertec ...... i don't mind queueing longer, rather than wishing to get the SC privilege :p

Hi,

I did mine in PJ JPN middle of last year. We didn't know about the SC priority. So my dad, my sis and I queued early in the morning. Before the doors were opened, an officer asked all SCs and one or two ppl accompanying them to get their numbers first. People who were ahead of the line were very considerate and let us through. I thought that was a pleasant surprise.

Yesterday, I took wifey and son to Putrajaya to do the MyKad and glad to say that it was a very pleasant and worthwhile trip. :)

The JPN office is located in precinct 2 of Putrajaya. There are 15 counters there although many were not manned at that time. But when we arrived there (around 1.25pm) there were hardly 5 or 6 customers only. And their service is both courteous and efficient. It was such a breeze and I felt like as if I was granted VIP service. Am really so impressed with the quality facilities and services there.

Everything was completed for all 3 of us in about 20 mins flat! They are also opened during lunch time. Their opening hours is 8.00 am - 6.00 pm.

Just done the IC round at Putrajaya and as promised, a short observation -

We got there at 8:35 am.
If you read my earlier post about parking at Basement level 3 - forget it. They are so short of parking for the staff that all 5 basement carpark levels are off limits to visitors. Today, I was stopped by the security guard at the carpark entrance and was advised to park outside. I then said it would inconvenience the 2 old ladies (both in their 70's) to walk and the guard allowed me in. A little bit of compassion and common sense prevailed. Thank God for that we still have humans working in the Govt department.

At the queue counter, the officer gave us 2 special red chits when I mentioned that I had brought 2 "nenek" (grandmas) to renew their IC. Pleasant surprise because this meant they go to the senior citizens' queue. The waiting hall was about half full. Given the usual family entourage that accompanies the actual IC-renewal candidate, I would say the bone fide people in queue was roughly 20 or thereabouts. My 2 grandmas were no. 1 and 2 in the senior citizens' queue. As such they were served immediately.

Would it surprise you that we finished with the whole process within 15 minutes? That was the time for 2 persons. It was great and I can tell you, the 2 grandmas were absolutely impressed with the speed. I am sure non senior-citizens could also get their card done within one hour. My sister-in-law went and did hers last week in less than 1 hour.

I had enough time left on my hands to give them a drive-through tour of the boulevard.

So now you know - go there on Saturday. They are open 8am to 4pm. No need to rush like starved wolves for the queue number. Sit in relaxed, airy and bright waiting hall. All done with the minimum stress. I guess the only stress is the trek to find the place if you are unfamiliar with Putrajaya and if you have a poor sense of direction.

If only all other govt counter services are just like that.
I will be trying out the Immigration office next.

If I were you, I would keep the IC as a IC which we hardly use so the chances of it being lost/misplaced/damaged is nearly nil compared to using it as a TnG at the toll plaza. I can't imagine slotting the MyKad into the ATM machine to top up the TnG. Will the ATM makan the MyKad just like what it does to our ATM card? Also you don't get a discount when you use it at the Penang Bridge where TnG cards bought at the bridge enjoys a RM 1.60 discount everytime you use the bridge. This is good for me as I balik kampung 3 times a year and while in Penang I need to use the bridge to visit my friends and relatives so the saving is a lot. Though MyKad has many other functions, I noticed that they are all not worth the trouble to be that canggih. I only find it useful when you use it at the EPF office to check your account - no need to line up. Of course today I subscribed to their iAccount using the Internet access.

I can't imagine slotting the MyKad into the ATM machine to top up the TnG.

at petronas usj2, they use a canggih machine where the card is placed on top, not inside, for reloading...

Also you don't get a discount when you use it at the Penang Bridge where TnG cards bought at the bridge enjoys a RM 1.60 discount...

ahh..., another advice to follow-up on seeing that the toll won't be increased for the next 2 years...

anyway just wanted to know if there's a charge using mykad as tng?

The HQ at Putrajaya opens EVERY saturday.
By the way, all Govt offices now work 5-day weeks. Where have you been, Nahans?

Wow, KH EE, your process was really fast. Goes to show, the Putrajaya HQ id the BEST place to get the MyKad done. Great office.

PCYeoh, goes to show that you have never updated the TnG at a Maybank ATM. No need to slot it into the machine, just touch, my friend, that's why it is called a TnG card. BTW, the bank charges you 50sen for an update - so go for the max to maximise the charge.
