Do not ever leave your pressure cooker unattended even for more than 10mins . Only buy pressure cooker that has a whistle for high pressure and uses silicon seal instead of the black rubber seal . My story . My Tefal Vitamin have steam leakage so I left it at high flame with half filled with water and peanuts at 4.15am. Half an hour later , thick smoke seeps into my 1st floor bedroom , my family almost died from this smoke if my wife did not wake up from the smoke smell and rush downstair in dense smog to off the cookerhttp://Tefal .
Result is a meltdown -Both rubber seal had melted - fortunately not caught fire yet, the plastic had deformed - Tefal service say I abuse the cooker by not putting water in it - so no proof as a faulty leakage valve - no waranty .Too bad - buy a new one .

I have no experience on steam-pressure cooking but don't you think it was very foolish to leave a pot on high flame and going back to sleep 2 hours from dawn? I believe this is OK if one was putting something to cook overnight in a slow-cooker. Not a pressure cooker. Generally pressure cooking involves vigilence so that the flame should be lowered once steam begins to vent. Nonetheless, we thank you for sharing.

They dont make pressure cooker like they used to. :(

Careful of the slowcooker also, some are too cheap to be safe.
