I know why nowadays people less interest in stocks. Some of them are trapped and traumatized by the 1993 bear market and never dare to buy stocks again. And, the younger generations are new to stock market and they have limited knowledge about stocks. Most of them think that stock market is a place where you can "gamble" legally. And, some of them think they better put their money in mutual funds. Hoping the fund managers can help them make money.
Actually, stock market is a good place to invest your money. Bursa Malaysia is much more transparent now than 10 years ago. There are more places we can get information on stock market now compared to 10 years ago. With internet access, we can get the latest company's news on www.BursaMalaysia.com the same time as fund managers and media. There are lots of websites where we can get more information on stocks such as www.mybursa.com, www.osk188.com, biz.thestar.com.my, etc. You can even trade and apply shares for Initial Public Offering IPO online.
Why let other people handle your money for you? There are no free lunch in this world.
So, do-it-yourself today!
