70% discount on traffic summonses
K. ANURADHA at the Subang Jaya Municipal Council Full Board Meeting

IN an effort to get offenders to pay their summonses, the Subang Jaya Municipal Council has introduced a flat rate payment for every ticket issued for traffic-related offences.

For the next two months those who have been issued summonses since 1999 and have not paid can do at only RM30 for every offence.

Council president Datuk Abdul Hakim Borhan said those wanting to pay could do so at any of the MPSJ’s counters.

“This is a discount up to 70%. I hope those issued summonses will use this opportunity to settle them.”

However, he added, those who had their car towed away for illegal parking and obstructing traffic would still have to pay towing charges.

Assuming you got a saman for an offence you commited more than 5 years ago, and then you forgot whether you have settled your saman, most probably yes, but could not locate your receipt for the settlement. And then, now only they send you a saman reminder (5 yrs later). Or perhaps, it was a mistake, may not even be an offence you committed.

Are you expected to keep a settlement for a saman that long? Even if you have kept it, chances is that you may not find it lor!

So,How ar?

So, people, the message is loud and clear from MPPJ. Don't be a law-abiding citizen, got saman? don't pay! Years later, got discount some more. If you pay now, no discount. So, keep your saman.

Ok, it's MPSJ. Who is the wise leader who pulled such a stunt. Next, don't pay income tax. Years later, LHDN give you a 90% discount on unpaid tax. Wow, lets celebrate our far-sighted and smart elected rep. or are they (MPSJ) elected?
