If the car can break into two parts the driver must be driving at top speed and presumbly lost control.

Couldn't be driving at top speed, it's the evening peak traffic jam. Must've been using a kereta potong.

JEFF OOI says: It's reported at 06:59hr... early morning lah kawan.

Joe Jaffar please read the original post again, the accident was reported at 06.59hr today meaning it occured sometime this morning , if it happened in18.59hrs then its in the evening, then i will surely agree with you.

Err...Chief:)...Orchi checked with Pondok Polis USJ 8...the lone fatality is a young malay male in his early 30's...

Ahem...from the initial investigation...the red Wira was driven by him...lost control hit a tree besides the road...next to the entry junction to USJ2...n broke into 3 parts...which happened around 04:30am early this morning...:o

saw the car while i was on the way to work. the driver must have drove very fast and at that part of the road, a car without ABS will definately skid (buang) when he break hard. it is really a bad accident.

Going down the slope at speed and do a sharp turn....whew..even with all the assistance of TCS, EBD, ABS and your ASS may not let you out easily. More so at 4.30am ...just reminds of Shuey in F1 last year in front. Pity the parents that brought him up till then.

aish.. silap tengok time .. but still, it could also be due to kereta potong if a car can break into 2 or 3 parts. speeding or not speeding.

Err...amongst the trees that are planted next to the drain n along that stretch of roadside...the first tree(from the junction towards the South) has 'survived' many mishaps on the very same spot over the years...

If you pass by it...take a closer look at the tree trunk...ahem...it bears the wounds from all those 'battles'...:o

In the years that Orchi has came to notice it...err...no less than 10 vehicles had crashed into it previously...:o

Ahem...IF not for these trees...quite inevitably those freaking vehicles would have crashed straight into them houses' compounds...:o

Do you notice how the corner house put up a 9x9 inch H beam crash barrier ...hopefully able to stop these deadmeat at it's track. Looking at what happen to this crash , it is clear to the owner that another 3ft should be able to do the job better just in case some head it's way.

Err...CCY:)...you are quite right...especially in the latest accident...should the vehicle 'missed' the tree...it would have been launched in its trajectory heading for that house...:o

Ahem...houses in major parts of Subang/USJ...mostly would be insured against 'falling' planes from the sky...

Orchi belives NONE of these houses in the areas...is insured from being hit n damaged by any 'flying' road vehicles...:o

It's the new wira special edition with the 16inch standard rim. I thought I saw the car broke into 2, maybe it was still dark(@ 6.20am) so can't see much.

Few years back, I thought the section of the downhill stretch going into USJ from SJ should have a speed-breaker like perhaps raised yellow lines. My friends told me it wasn't a good idea to have these yellow lined speed-breakers in a downhill stretch with a curve like that because it would cause lots of skidding in the wet. Any experts out there care to share your opinions?

This stretch is a dangerous spot. There are too many hits and misses until MPSJ was advised to install those safety road signs and amber warning signs lately at this dangerous corner. Inspite of these measures being taken, things didn't change either resulting this ultimate crash test two days ago. I saw the 'debris' (usually the result of a plane crash) of the car on TV3 last night.

I myself went through two experiences at this spot. One afternoon in 2001, I took the corner at this blind spot and to my horror, there was traffic queue in front of me. I braked in time but unfortunately for me, the Pajero behind me couldn't and smashed my butt causing a RM 4,857 damage resulting in my Wira Aeroback getting shorter by 5 inch. The second one was just early this year. The same thing happened and this time it was a motorcyclist. This time I only suffered a crack to my rear end bumper. He fell and strangely the damage to his 125 cc bike was minimal. We decided not to pursue the matter any further. In any case it was not worth going thru all the hassle. So folks, beware of the danger here especially when it rains. When the traffic lights turns red, the queue can extend up to corner just after the KESAS flyover when you are heading towards USJ. They should instead install speed breakers here.

For those interested, Sin Chew carried a picture of the wreck in today's edition.

If you are familiar with that strecth of road, there are two mobile stalls selling roasted duck along the parallel slip road every evening and from what I hear, the two pieces were that far apart after the crash.

Hi PC, Agree. It takes two to tango, err... or is it two hands to clap?
Whatever it is, it is a combination of the right conditions that make it happen.
So, when the conditions are right, Murhpy just can't stay away. He is right, when it can happen, it will... someday... just a matter of when...

Just remove one of the elements that make the recipe for an accident, and the chances for it to happen can be reduced tremendously.

What is that element that can be removed?

tan_r

According to statistics, accidents are caused by:-

Unsafe acts - 88%
Unsafe conditions - 10%
Acts of providence - 2%

Unsafe acts, btw, are within OUR control.

For now, I just want to advise all my friends here. Do be VERY, VERY careful when you drive nowadays. There are soooo many mad and idiot drivers around these days, no one can be save. No matter how safely and careful you drive. When I can find the time, I will put up a sketch to relate to you folks what I saw one evening and how an accident happen. Let's just say that such accidents can happen to anyone and you would never have even dare to dream such an accident can happen because of the manner some idiots drive.

Just be careful....be VERY, VERY careful. Expect anything! And I mean it!!! No one is safe with such idiots around.

Last Sun, my office colleague's husband met an accident when he was on this Sunday bike riding along the Ulu Yam trunk road. There's no eye witness and until today, wifey still doesn't has a clue how the accident happened.

He was sent to GH and when docs had the 1st operation last Mon, he had stroke & internal bleeding. So, they had to stop operation in order to stabilize the condition but it got worse on Tue. The next day, docs told the family to prepare for the worst to happen...he passed away yesterday evening...

My colleague is still crying her heart out for wat happened especially when she thinks of raising the kids as a single parent...

Sometimes being an experienced & careful are just ain't enuf coz there're just too many reckless, selfish, irresponsible drivers out there who don't even recognized what's safe driving!

What is it in our culture or system that causes our youth to drive so recklessly and risk everything just to be the fastest on the road or to get ahead of everyone?

Is there something wrong in our driving schools? Do they teach you only how to pass the test? Should they teach you how to be safe, like not following another car at 100km/hr just 6 inches away from its bumper?

Whatever it is, we are not doing something right, and we have to get to the bottom of it, before more unecessary loss of life.

Government, please take an interest!!!

you are right tupai. I 'gave' up bike riding in KL because I find tooooo many idiots on the road...both riders and drivers.

If you ask me, I sort of saw the road situation coming to this a few years ago. I kept writing to the printed media asking that the police come out strongly to enforce the law. Nothing much happened. It was only the operasi this and that. That's just not enough. With many of our motorists with 3rd world mentality, it's like giving them the license to do whatever they like.

And IF our police is going to continue to adopt this lackadaisical enforcement attitude, do expect worse things to happen on our road. But until it does, it can only get worse. God help us the "civilised" road users, lest be join them to survive the law of the jungle.

Aiyah! Patrick, how can you gave up a passion b'cos of the idiots' bad upbringing & worst behavior...the past few years (my stats go back from 1999-2003) saw an average of 3,000 motorcyclist and 2800 motorist deaths per annum...so it is NOT neccessary safer in a 'coffin-on-4-wheels'...You didn't gave up driving did you :p hahahhaha, sorry ah....couldn't resist that.

ANyway, the previous 'race track' at Kewajipan was curtailed b'cos the cops put up a sign that says No-U-Turn from 11pm to 7am. This allows the cops to issue summons to those who U-turned at the junction for the start of their illegal race...(the law is pretty difficult to apply for speeding/illegal racing as opposed to making illegal u-turn... smart move by pdrm :D

At one point, the cops had some 10 patrol& unmarked cars on duty to nap these idiots..they pulled up close to 40cars! Idiots were driving merc, evo, accord, proton, kancils etc and half-cut mutants too!

I blamed the MB & his idiotic exco for shutting down Batu Tiga track...but thats anutter story.

I gave up motorcycles decades ago and even gave up my racing bike 10 yrs ago due to unhospital roads in Klang Valley which I really, really do not feel safe at all riding a bicycle. That was when I was staying in USJ 14.

Before moving to Klang Valley I used to enjoy cycling in the country sides with easy access from my home to nice country roads reasonably safe for cyclist even though there r potholes here and there and lorries stirring up dust when they pass. But all that became too much to bear, with increasing dangerous and fast drivers on the road. This is what out country is coming to as a price to pay for development.

Now I can only cycle in the gym, for crying out loud!

Rachel, the accident could have been his own ie no one hit him. He probably crashed out. Ulu Yam on a Sunday morning is a speed-freak haven. Not tens but hundreds of those superbikes 'carve' the winding roads up either to Awana or onward to Ampang Pecah.

I have personally lost friends in Ulu Yam and also at the Titi-Rawang winding stretch, another popular bikers' spot. These guys crashed at speed exceeding 160kmph! believe me. In 1996, I had to drive all the way to the Jelebu District Hospital to "collect" a friend back. His wife was a cabin crew still in London when he died.

I have not ridden for a while but am thinking of getting a 500cc scooter the T-Max... perhaps just to stop the urge to get back onto a superbike saddle.

In my experience the superbikers tend to be a very disciplined lot ..... even the groups that come up from Singapore. Very predictable movements ....... they dont spring surprises.
It is some of the chappies riding the gnat-sized 110 cc thingeys and think / imagine that they are riding a 1100 cc monster oozing pure power, & weave in and out of traffic risking life and limb .... it is them I am bluddy scared about.

Just some thot here...

Somehow, there will still be some reckless drives on the road.

Perhaps we should continue to provide special lanes for mcyclists, to prevent them from reckless drives on the fast lanes, just like the Fed H/way where special mcycle lanes are reserved for them.

Promised you folks on page 2 of this thread, that I will find the time to relate the tale of some mad drivers. And I mean really mad! Such drivers should get killed into many pieces before they hurt other innocent road users.
Here's what happened... (Refer to attached diagram)

A few weeks ago at about 8.30pm, I was queueing at the traffic light (2) from Psn Murni to get into Psn Tujuan to head towards Subang Jaya. Along came two vrrooom, vrrooom cars on the left. Instead of queueing up with all the other cars, they chose to beat the traffic light by taking the route of the dotted arrow. As the light was green at Traffic Light 1 for cars coming from USJ along Tujuan heading towards SJ, one of the two crazy cars crashed into one car moving along Tujuan. Mind you, it was about 8.30pm and traffic was still quite heavy. Yet these two idiotic drivers were mad enough to make this crazy move!

With such mad drivers on the road, it is not going to be safe anywhere. So be very, very watchful and careful when you drive. We will never know what these mad drivers will try next.

they believed the driver had speed more than 140km/h during the crash... and he also mentioned that there r no pic taken by the police that day.. - coz every1 is vomiting...that time..
