Camy, what kind of wedding dinner are you looking for? Chinese? Western, Fusion?
Do you want it to be a private affair for a few guests or are you expecting to have LOTS of people there?
What kind of additional support do you require? Do you require lots of themed decorations, dance floor, DJ..etc?
Maybe if you can specify what your preferences are , we can help you narrow down some possible locations.

Expat...per table usually means 10pax.
:)

Thank you for your reply, Vixey. I prefer Chinese cuisine. I expecting about 30 to 35 tables (300 to 350 pax). Not necessary a grand wedding with deejay and dance floor (co's budget not allow :p ) a simple decoration will do. I just want to make sure my guests are comfortable with the environment and the food quality is reasonable. I have tried the Restaurant Hee Lai Ton at puchong, their food not too bad but their environment is terrible. Old and broken chair, dirty table cloth and their plates are chipped out. Very bad impression  .

I was going to suggest you the LUNA bar but its not suitable for you're kinda setting I think restaurant or hotel would be ok.... but you must have specific location where you want to have it and also your theme for the wedding. I have a few suggestion for hotels JW Marriot in Putrajaya - I think its cheaper due to the location, Garden wedding reception - Cyberview Lodge Resort, Cyberjaya and Holiday Villa, Subang Jaya - very nice Victorian ambiance.

Camy, I totally agree with you there! We took some guests there for dinner last year. Dad even pre-ordered the dishes and guess what? When we got there, THEY FORGOT TO PREPARE the dishes!!! We had to wait for over an hour to be served and the room they gave us was totally crap!

Since you are not too worried about themes etc..I would suggest trying out some of the good Chinese restaurants. Apart from the usual ones like Tai Thong and Oversea, maybe you can try some restaurants in the KL Imbi area? There are some good ones there, can't quite remember the names though.

Give some of them a taste test and make your decision then. Instead of spending $$$ on unnecessary frills channel your budget towards having a really good meal. Somehow I find hotel Chinese cuisine sorely lacking in oomph!

But if you change your mind and would like to have a dinner with a little more ambiance, then I would suggest Holiday Villa too. The Victorian ballroom with its own little courtyard and pond is just beautiful! The food is quite ok as well.

How abut the chinese restaurant in subang Parade. If I recall correctly (mind you.... many many years ago), they can have a separate area just for the wedding banquet. That way you don't have to share your big day with other walk in guests.
They also provide a waiting/changing room (ie. one of the private rooms).

Now the restaurant already change to oversea restaurant and that is the most expensive branch of all.Got bad experience from them was charge 500++ 1 table/8 pax. I order the normal food for normal dinner (just fish, prawn ,vege etc)The food is not nice and very small portion. After the dinner we went for supper straightaway

Hey Camy,

I had mine in Eastin Hotel 3 years ago. Per table RM638++
During that time Eastin Hotel famous with their chinese cuisine.
The 8 courses dinner was excellent!!!!
Normally we get comment like hotel food "lousy & cold" but suprisingly my guest gave good comment especially the fish. Not easy to serve the fish hot and fresh with 35 tables (i had 35 tables).
Serve at the right time serve fresh and hot and big :D presentable should say.
Regarding the decoration may be you can view my homepage. I have some of the dinner reception photos in there.......
Overall, I had a good experience with Eastin Hotel

I been there once too. Their foods were not as good as we expected. I remember i ordered a steam seabass but it flesh was as rough as carton box surface. I complained to their captain but he refused to exchange another one for us and insist that the fish was fresh from their aquarium. Fresh!!! it flesh can even cut with spoon, it was so rough and hard. That was the first and last time going there.

If u prefer a presentable dinner u hv no choice but to book a hotel venue. IMHO, most Chinese restaurants may have good food but service and presentasion wise they are below par, but still not much cheaper than hotels.

In hotel, expect to pay upwards of RM700-800 per table which includes cordials or tea (sometimes 1 bottle of softdrink per table too)but exclude alcohols which can add up to quite a lot.

Holiday Villa is nice enough and easily accessible, too bad they're fully booked for your date. Another nicer place is the Hyatt Saujana, the service, presentation and quality of food is good but expect to pay good money for it. Check around and evaluate your priorities.

After all, this is a once in a lifetime thing and you won't want to remember some incidents like cockroaches crawling out from under the table during the dinner, do you? (This happens in most Chinese restaurants, incl that expensive one in Subang Parade)

OR

Why don't u have a wedding luncheon?

-Day time venues maybe still available,
-you can have the same 8 course food or 1 or 2 courses less,
-the whole affair is over in 3-4 hours,
-u don't hv to stay up all day, get dressed twice, or stay up late
-people are more punctual for luncheons(relatively speaking),
-and the best part, most ppl don't drink as much during day time, in fact, majority dont drink alcohols coz they may hv other activities later in the day :D

Some of these places are worth considering, all more or less within your budget:

1. Summit htl-the ballroom's big, the food last time not tat nice lah but now change new cook liao.....I think summit is abt RM 500++ leh.

2. Grand Blue Wave Klang-I think abt RM 600+ per table. My friend had his wedding there recently.

3. Concorde Shah Alam-normal banquet is abt RM 680 nett, pricing for Nov 04. Dunno if they had revised it or not.

4. PJ Hilton- if u know how to negotiate can get prolly abt RM 730 nett, food not too bad.

5. Eastin is another good choice, tho I think now price increase already. The Chinese food is excellent, dun know abt now...havent been there for 3 mths liao.

6. If u want KL, I suppose Concorde KL still can get that kind of price with negotiation lah. Other than that, federal hotel also can. Can have the reception on the top flr revolving restaurant, can sit up to 400 pax. Corus hotel is about RM 500 nett, the food okay lor if not fussy.

7. Actually u might want to try Sunway Hotel, they have a big convention centre can fit about 2000 pax food not bad but service is very slow.

Do check if the hotel can throw in the music machine or not otherwise u hv to rent it. It cost about RM 1200. If u dun get those famous DJ, can be quite cheap lah, 2 weeks ago at a friend's wedding she got her DJ for about RM 600 for the entire duration, which is a steal and he's not too bad.

The other hotels in KL is over 700 per table one but u never know.. Usually 5 star hotels package starts from RM 800 onwards. But, most of the more popular hotels are fully booked already for 2006's wedding.

Unfortunately, most of my contacts (having been in the industry) are with the more popular hotels so I cant really help you there. I know Mandarin Oriental and Prince Hotel has very good food but they are quite expensive. I think M.O is at RM 850++, while the cheapest in Prince hotel is about RM 750++ (the rates they give me) tho I think the normal price starts from RM 888++.

Luna Bar nice lah. In the last month, I attended 2 weddings there but dun suit her requirement.

Btw, Cyberview Lodge is expensive leh. Even their room packages is expensive considering that they're so nearby. I paid RM 750 p/nite for a deluxe room that comes with bfast and 1 hr of massage & 30% off all the other spa treatments, the last time I stayed there & the RM 750 is their staff price hor..got contacts in there.

I think a lot of people getting married in June next year because of the date 06.06.2006 or 20.06.2006 and of course the school holiday. So you can expect June to be a very popular month to get married for all races and its pretty hard to get a place. I wish you the best of luck! :)

Hi,

I would recommend Tai Thong at Bkt Jalil Golf Resort. Ample parking, golf course view and nice food. I had my wedding dinner at the restaurant on March 2005, & I must say my wife & I were greatly happy and satisfied with the decision. :)

They have wedding package ranging from $600 to $800++. Alcohol is not included. Btw, it's Halal restaurant, means no pork served. U can choose between small hall (30+ tables) and ballroom (90+ tables).

Call them at 03-89944811.

i think a lot ppl will register on that date. when someone get married, they choose for saturday and sunday. not the date. how do u expect ppl to rush back after work to attend ur dinner?
