If I might just add my 2-sen worth here, BABANA in this context refers to "Yellow on the Outside, White inside!". It is a reference to some of the Chinese who are Chinese by birth but inside (their feelings and thinking etc) they're westernised. Lots of our Chinese friends who got sent to boarding school before puberty all come back BANANAS lah!!!! :eek:

From what I understand, its pretty straightforward lah...not rocket science.

Instead of being a "copy-cat" and issue yellow cards and red cards ala football referree-ing, our referree here chooses to give out "bananas".

You see in order to have civilised banter here, there has to be somebody with the rotan to spank the naughty ones who get out of control. Since all adults here, cannot spank spank (some may just enjoy it :rolleyes: ) So to be polite yet firm, the humble banana is used.

First, you get a warning...you are treading too close to the banana plantation. This should tip you off but if you are hungry for bananas and ignore the warning, thats it lah...our referree @ plantation manager will throw not only one but the WHOLE tandan of pisang at you. Result, you will be in a coma for a week ie..you disappear from the forum.

What gets you close to the plantation? From what I noticed, mainly its overtly sexual content and innuendo or too heated disagreements on the big no-nos; politics & religion.

Hmmm...I hope I didn't confuse things further with the rotan and the spankings.... :p

chang realised that the guy being punished obviously had missed the whole point. So chang resorted to the relatively sexually neutral word "banana" .....

I will be coming for my first TT this month. My interpretation of the sharing of bananas at the TT would be this:
Its a break-out session to indulge in all that is taboo online which is worthy of Chang throwing the tandan at you. Or worse yet, driving the banana truck over you.
So after you indulge yourself in all that is taboo, you have to cleanse yourself with a generous helping of bananas to symbolize your respect for the Role of the Banana at the forum.
