is it against the consititution to keep dogs?if not, don't mess around with people's rights.maybe the smart teams should get rid of their dogs too, so should the police that use dogs for tracking etc. anyway difficult to talk with ppl that have brains that don't function

anyone keeping a pet, be it a cat or dog etc, need to take care of it and ensure they are given due care. Those that can cause danger need to be on a leash and taken care of. i hope they will do something about all the stray cats as well.

Dogs or cats or even Kancils, if you do not look after your pets well and let them 'disturb' thy neighbors, there's no unity between neighbors, Muslims or otherwise.

Ya..that is dog-**** thinking.

I am currently facing incessant barking from the neighbour's dogs. Nevertheless, i agree that dog is one specie of animals that is useful for humanity. However, the owners must be responsible to ensure they do not disrupt the neigbourhood peace with incessant barkings and contaminate the surroundings with dog****.

I read that MPSJ is implementing the ruling that both the dogs and owners must be well trained before they issued dog licence.
I hope MPSJ will allow us to complain if the dogs misbehaved and the owners do not hold up to their responsibilities.

Just a remote case, the whole country jump. Guess that Malaysian politicians do not know how to keep things in perpective.

We as a country have more bigger fishes to fry... than to argue over some doggie issue.

first of all we must analyse whether the dog attacks on boys, ladies etc are
anjing liar, no man's dogs or anjing orang punya,
many cases of dog bites are due to a pack of anjing liar running around looking for mangsa........
in some instances, anjing orang punya accidentally run out, and bite people

so all these ho ha about training dog owners , subjecting them to courses on
handling dogs etc are bull...

end message is that in the days to come, keeping a pet dog is getting more
difficult ......... esp those big fellas like alsatian, dobermanns, rottweiller,
mastiff,

each local authority have their own by laws as to issuance of the dog lesen

the local authority should be more pro active ,,, go round and catch anjing liar rather than to impose all these regulations .....................

Owners of pets, may it be dogs, cats or any animals must be made responsible. It has nothing to do with the "dumb" animals. If the animals can't be well looked after, there's no reason to own it in the first place. If pets were mistreated and misbehaved, it should be reported to the relevant authorities. Let's not let a few isolated cases be the rule. Appropiate penalties should be metted to the offenders/owners. It boils down to the enforcement and the support from the communities. We need to be sensitive over this issue!

we've heard so many excuses given for so many faults in our country. Racial harmony is about tolerance. We should not keep quiet about this. Ask the people that don't neuter or spay their cats because of religious purpose 'what justice is there to the number of abandoned cats out there'. Is this harmonious living? I myself have heard of so many non-muslims who pick up the stray cats and help them anyway they can. Who's fault is that? Tell this selayang fella that his place in heaven was just taken up by a rottweiler! LOL

We have been living with cats and dogs around, what's the problem?
Owned pets? or Wild ones? To be trained, before being issued a license? Must be a catch 22 joke!

for those who love dog, please shed some light on the below scenario.

how do you like dog sh!t in your garden? you step on it and by the time you realise it, your car carpet is gone and your entire car stink for a year.

your dog owner neighbor washes his stinking dog sh!t down your front porch everyday? overflow to the front pavement. miraculously, he is not borthered by the stench.

the dog sleeps, eats, sh!ts at the dog house or out in the open front porch and the stench emitted come right into your living room? try to eat your meal with the stench.

the dog threaten your kids and your maid safety. somehow, the dog knows who to bark at.

that bitch barks in broad daylight seeing a cat or other dog.

If you live in a banglo, away from your neighbor, it is ok to own a dozen dogs. but if you happen to squat in a terrace or a link house like me, dog is a pest!

Pets=Friends
07-05-2005, 12:03 AM
talk to your neighbour then, why should we dog lovers be punished because of your bad incident with your neighbour.

my turn, imagine the below scenario

i have only one dog which i cherish and love like family. we toilet trained the dog to sh*t on the newspaper of which after that we would dispose the stained papers properly wrap in plastic bag and taken away by Alam Flora.

My dog enjoys running and playing catch within my own compound but when i walk in for a snack, some neighbourhood kids bang their bikes at my gates and frighten my dog, some even resort to throwing sticks and stone to aggitate my poor dog, my dog response with the only way he knows of - barking.

Dogs are not allowed in parks or any open spaces, we can only bring them around the neighbourhood. People give us stares like we have AIDS and some even jeer at us for dirtying the neighbourhood with dog poo, even though they know in their hearts that cats sh*t is 10 times more smelly and no grill or fence can keep away any cat from their compound or bedroom.

Because of one dog owner's mistake, rottweilers are banned even though with proper training and attention, this breed is among the smartest and easiest to train. And because i don't live in a banglo or a corner lot link house, i have to give my dog up where he will surely face death in the many cramped dog pounds, he will most likely be clobbered and bled to death.

Is this fair to us, dog lovers that lives should be sacrifice because your car carpet is more important and that a small whiff of stench will make you vomit your dinner out.

And to Mr. Low of the Anti-Dogs Association, you can kiss my bony a*s.

Timo

I don't think anyone is saying that dogs should be allowed to roam free terrorising poor children. As a dog lover, I am all for the concept of responsible dog ownership. There is no excuse for dog owners who allows their dogs to do a poo everywhere, and wash it towards the neighbour's house. There is no excuse for dog owners who allow their dogs to harass or even attack other people. Everyone agrees with this.

My point of contention is : What's race got to do with it? I think it is highly depressing and disgusting that all dogs should be succumbed to exclusive rules just because of 'apparent racial dis-unity'. Very sad indeed.

And what of other pets? Cats? Why not make their owners keep them on leashes? Chickens and Roosters who crow at the wee hours of the morning and attract snakes? Monkeys? Who turn up at your gate on bicycles taunting neighbours dogs and throwing their RM1.20 slippers at them? (Hey Pets=Friends, we apparently have the same neighbourhood kids?).

As for those who think that Rottweilers should be all banned because of ONE case, well, do we ban a certain type of human just because one of them is a criminal? Would we, for example, punish ALL Muslims just because one Muslim may, say, fly a plane into a building? Hypothetically speaking, of course...

#31 Yesterday 10:33 PM :uchangeng,
Shared your views fully and is in the same shoe as you.

I am a dog lover and have reared dogs before. The dog unconditional 'love' towards their owner(kind one) is something worth the while.

However i do not have any dogs now as i am aware that it is difficult to control the associated nuisance that comes with it especially living in a terrace house.

I think it is getting tough rearing a dog in a terrace house and being a neighbour that is considerate of others. It may be expensive to get a well trained dog that barks minimally and appropriately. It may be tedious to train the dog yourself and one need to have the competency to train. It is also tedious to ensure the poo is disposed cleanly and ensure no ticks climb to the neighbour walls etc. etc. My respect to the one who can do it.

If not, pls be considerate to your neigbours and avoid torturing the animal and the neigbours.

Kenyan baby girl 'rescued by dog'

An abandoned baby girl found among a dog's litter of puppies is now doing well in hospital in Kenya's capital.
Two boys heard the two-week old baby girl, named Angel by nurses, crying near their house in a Nairobi suburb.

The dog's owner then found the baby covered by an old cloth in a plastic bag. She gave her some milk and cleaned her before she was taken to hospital.

Doctors think the baby was left for two days before being discovered. The case is receiving huge media coverage.

Local residents say the baby was probably abandoned in a nearby forest and the dog then carried her in the plastic bag from the forest over the main Ngong Road back to the house.

Search

The dog's owner told The Daily Nation newspaper that two of her children came to her saying they could hear a baby crying but couldn't find it.

The dog is thought to have rescued the baby from a nearby forest

"I followed them outside and looked around our compound and a nearby plot," said Mary Adhiambo.

"I saw my dog, which I have had for five years, lying protectively with her puppy besides the soiled baby lying in a torn black cloth. I held the baby in my arms and carried it into the house."

A neighbour then took Angel to a nearby police station and on to Kenyatta National Hospital.

Doctors found maggots in her umbilical cord, but a hospital spokeswoman said the baby was responding well to treatment considering she had been left outside in the cold.

Hospital staff say members of the public have begun donating baby clothes and nappies.

Unwanted babies are quite frequently abandoned in Kenya - because of failed relationships or extreme poverty.

Seriously, BANNING DOGS will not solve the problem. How about exterminating all the stray cats around?! The Gov should not punish dog owners.. crime rate (house break-ins) are rampant and unless the Gov wants to improve crime-prevention, dogs are great in protecting not only the owner's property but the property of others.

I mean, COME ON!

Now how do you explain me being able to pat a neighbor's Rotts and shake the paws of another neighbor's German Shepard. Mind you, these dogs can be pretty "garang" when they see strangers and even some of the neighbors!? I believe if you give the dog a little respect and allow it to trust you... the dog would naturally let you touch/pat/cuddle her. Don't believe? - gimme a call or PM - and I'll prove it! :D

As for cats ( as much as I can dislike them ) I would not harm one... lets be fair here, cats can be as much of a nuisance as dog and vice versa. Blame the owners and not the animal. If a neighbor wants to keep (a) cat(s) as (a) pet(s), at least neuter the cat(s) so they don't become like rabbits... all over the bluddy place. Wake up in the morning and see the darn cat doing CSI with your new car's paintwork!

Pets=Friends: And to Mr. Low of the Anti-Dogs Association, you can kiss my bony a*s. :D LOL! This one really funny, I LIKE :D

PS. Dun know where the thread went about keeping cats away but I've tried mixing smelling salts with water and spraying it in my compound ~ seems to work. Even with the straydogs that come and go... haven't had cat sh*t anymore in my garden... and they don't hang out in my backyard anymore.. :) :p
