Hi,
Has anyone of you tried Chinese character keying in by using Windows XP Professional ?
Can teach me how to do the set up ?
Was told need not any software, just do some setting, but don't know where to start, bought the pc from Dell.

1. control panel -> regional and language options -> languages -> install files for East Asian languages (keep your XP install CD handy)

2. same place as above -> click Details in Text services and input languages -> settings -> installed services -> add -> Chinese PRC & keyboard Chinese simplified - Microsoft Pinyin IME

Go to Start Menu->Control Panel & click on Regional and Language Options.
In the window, click on the Languages tab.
Click on the details Button.
Text Services and Input Languages will pop up.
Find the Add Button & click on it.
Choose Chinese (PRC) in the Input Language drop down menu.
Check on the keyboard layout/IME and make sure Chinese (simplified) - Microsoft Pinyin IME 3.0 is selected & click ok.
Back on the Text Services and Input Languages, click on the language bar, check the 1,3,4th option.
Then, on your task bar, or on the desktop you will see additional icon with word "en" on it.
To change to chinese, click on the EN & select CH....
Then u can input in chinese.
