What's Happening with Streamyx?

Err...with Orchi's Pentium 4 + 1's Mbits Streamyx...the connection speed used to be running averagely above 55Kb/sec...paying 88 dirham per month to Telekoms...

Of late...err...the connexsion speed has dwindled down hovering between 25Kb/sec to 40Kb/sec...

Would other folks experience the same Streamyx slowness lately?...n would you think it would be wise to pay less...should this problem prolongs? :confused:

Yes, I've experienced a noticeable slowdown in my streamyx too, sometimes the XPeedometer (http://direct.tm.net.my/xpeedometer/xpeedometer.htm) will show only 500+kbit/s, sometimes, 750+kbits/s, but this is not the true measure of internet throughput, right? It is only measuring the speed from your PC to the tmnet router, i believe. I've got the RM88 1Mbps package too.

If I test with external bandwidth tests like http://testmy.net, it shows only 322Kbps (or 39kB/s) right now, there seems to be a bottleneck somewhere btw Malaysia and rest of the world. Are we still suffering from the submarine cable problem from 2-3weeks ago?

btw, orchi, what do u use to measure your connection speed?

mebbe its because they spent somewhat like RM9 MILLION to change their name - so now cannot afford to change/upgrd the nodes/eqpts/ whatever? :rolleyes:

or mebbe its the weather... too hot, the "stream"yx drying up....

mine was slow at home last week. Filed a complaint and a day later they fixed it. call them and file a complaint. Mine was reduced to speed lower than dial up. do check for spyware etc prior to lodging a complaint.

Boycott?...Protest?...or ask for rebate?...its only fair wat!...any suggestions? :confused:

Streamyx is best effort line... but capped at a upper limit of say 1MBPS... it's not guaranteed.

Friend ....my connection is only a month old baby . Satish did hint but your P4+1 running so fast thereby missing that message la... Try a download a moment ago n got almost to the top at 95.3kb /sec ...:cool:

Did u guys know that Msn Messenger got virus threat it will make computer definitely slow... check that one out in ur comp... i forgot the file name... so u just check urs out la... the virus send thru the msn to ask u to update your msn messenger... dont download that if u have the new one already install... :o

My Streamyx PC P4-1.7G lately was running very slow. You will usually see this message: internet explorer has encountered an error and need to close. Its an indication of virus. After reinstalling and reformatting my windowsXP everything is fine now.

Err...Orchi managed to contact Streamyx customer service a few days ago...n told them about Orchi's problem with slow connection speed of the Pentium 5 - 1 PC...despite having to pay for 1MB access fee of RM88 per moon...

They promptly gave Orchi a 7 digits technical report numbers...n promised to resolve any problems asap...

Ahem...guess what...Orchi just counterchecked the bandwith connection speed again...n it records averagely now @ 832Kbps...or 102Kbytes per second... (http://direct.tm.net.my/) :p

Wireless technicians yet to appear at my house.
They have to change the card at the antenna box..Telekom staff do not do it..they have to vendor it out...!

TMNET TEMPORARY SERVICE INTERRUPTION

This is to announce that TM Net Sdn Bhd’s Internet service is currently experiencing a slight drop in performance caused by several outages due to service degradation at some of its international links to Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Korea, Japan, Thailand and United States. Our multiple link providers which subscribe to the international carriers are still trying to restore their system for TM Net service.



TM Net is currently running slightly short on international capacity due to the problem. The congestion will be alleviated as soon as the international carriers fully restore their services for our connectivity. Meanwhile, we have taken immediate action to divert some traffic through our tmnet Eastgate service as well as to other back-up links to reduce the Internet international traffic congestion. The international providers are carrying out rectification works in stages and we will be making an announcement when the service has resumed to normal.



TM Net Sdn Bhd apologizes for any inconvenience caused but at the same time we would like to assure you that what we are doing is necessary in order to restore the service as soon as possible.



Customers can call our TM Net Customer Interaction Center at 1-300-88-9515 or 1-300-88-1515 from 8:00 a.m. till midnight or email at custcare@tm.net.my for further enquiries about the service.

So is this the reason why everytime I connect for a session, I get booted at least two or three times within minutes of logging on?

I'm facing email problems with Streamyx. Cannot send emails via smtp.streamyx.com but can receive. This problem started this morning till I left office. Not sure now as I'm surfing using Jaring Wireless (very slow oso)...
