wow...

my questions are :-

1. why change name? because using TM name can go abroad? what? now Telekom "malaysia" sound not boleh meh?

2. Now RM9 million is not really a lot to a company who make RM2.6 billion, but then is it necessary to change the name?

3. Now, Isn't it incredible if you just change a name from Telekom Malaysia to simply TM and got bill RM9 million. I am wondering who's getting a slice of the action here.

4. However Telekom Malaysia or TM or whatever change it's name to, it cannot hide from the fact that if you don't change your service level and upgrade your service, you are still whomever you are.

I am going to be a rich man.

1. Genting Resorts to GR = RM9 million
2. Petronas to P = RM9 million
3. MPSJ to MPSJ = RM9 million
4. HSBC to HSBC = RM9 million
5. MAS to MAS = RM9 million

Ladies & Gentlemen. Free flow of drinks on me at the SH this weekend. SH stands for Sheraton Hotel (another RM9 million).

TM = Tun Madhadthir?
TM = Tenkiu Madhaleel?
Powerful, really powerful!!!
:D :D :D

Sigh.... :( What a waste of funds that could be channeled to put piped water and electricity to the hardcored poor instead of rebranding.

Oops... sorry, once again, I forgot.... MALAYSIA BOLEH!!!

9 million sure is a lot of money. Let see:
1) Advertising?
2) Changing the siganage in all outlet/branches?
3) Reprinting of all formal documents - letterhead, envelope, not forgetting the stockpile of paper to print your bill ;) .
4) staffs uniform?
5) Repainting their company vehicles?
6) ......

Any expert out there to put a price tag to these? :D

Perhaps Telekom Malaysia is trying to build a global brand using TM like IBM represents International Business Machine, HP for Hewlett Packard. Anyone knows the RM9 million is paid to which consultant company?

There is research to support that acronyms as brand names often fail to impress.

Tuna Mayonaisse anyone?

can someone please tell me, now that they have changed from Telekom to TM, will the phone booths be better maintained than what it was earlier?!! They could have used the RM9mil for this purpose than an image change cum fill-the-pocket exercise.

Perception change that is, may not equate to the actual change in service delivery. While a branding strategy can work wonders, in this case, it has already decayed to a cancerous level which only means "on-the-surface" clinical prescription cure is left to be seen.

We are, after all, more than just a number. We're paying customers waiting for the next available ship, only too obliging to jump ship the moment it comes.

BTW, MB = MALAYSIA BOLEH???

Watever the case is, with the new CEO on board, for sure something has to be done to change the current image of TM. He has kicked-off the VSS, getting rid off unwanted resources and reducing headcount for the company and at the same time, create new opportunities for really capable & talented people...

The next logical move as what has been done now is marketing exercise to create brand awareness among consumers...

Let's just wait & see what's next...

Rachel. You may be right but I would not bet on it. I have seen huge corporations getting rid of unwanted resources and then go and replace them with more morons and imbeciles who would become unwanted resources in a couple of years.

Well, giving the new CEO benefit of the doubt, I don really think he has any choice since re-structuring GLCs is also highly recommended by our PM. Guess he has to play along with that too right?

But of course on another aspect, as you also highlighted, in most cases, actions taken but results are always not guaranteed or ????....!

The last time I heard VSS, getting rid of unwanted resources and reducing headcount in US,ironically the ceo who do that makes millions because of increase profits.

"create new opportunities for really capable & talented people...", I seriously doubt TM actually create new opporunity for really capable & talented people in a GLC based company unless of course u r tengkiu from some renowned University

Dude, most (if not all) of us know very well wat's the real world out there...wat is realistic and wat is not.

If only you're one of the people in any GLCs, obviously you'd also like to believe wat the CEO in the company is preaching at least carries some logical sense...rite? Like it or not, this is how most large orgs in Malaysia are being managed too... :D

I thought since British Telecom is now BT, and Singapore Telecom is SingTel, Telekom Malaysia ought to be TM, right? No?

Or, perhaps Matell? Yam Seng everyone......... :D

If Telekom Malaysia is known as TM since day one, then there won't be a need for VSS or another CEO... :D

submitting a complaint on the TM online feedback/complaint website gives me:

error '80040211'

/contact/complaint2.asp, line 185

and now:

CDO.Message.1 error '80040213'

The transport failed to connect to the server.

/contact/complaint2.asp, line 185

but still if the attitude of the people don't change, no point replacing the phone booths coz it will still be broken and damaged to extract the coins
