Still on destruction to the environment. Today's article in the Malay Mail http://www.mmail.com.my/Current_News/MM/Sunday/National/20050306111634/Article/index_html
speaks our mind. Can any one send this to the CEOs of all greedy developers, council presidents, and those politicians who all have a dirty hand in destroying our environment?

Can we also impose "no car day" in Klang Valley once a week? Ride buses, train, or better still get your bicycles ready.

I think that with the quality of the buses we have they are more destructive to the environment than cars. Many buses still spew out masses of led or run on poorly maintained diesel engines. Even the exhaust of a new bus is comparable to 15 sedans.

Second, the capacity of the LRT is only a few percent of the needed capacity for having any sort of impact on the environment.

Third, destruction of greeneries around Klang Valley is pushing the average temperature upwards and reduces the nature's own ability for taking care of pollution.

Fourth, I would not recommend anyone biking in central KL. It will, sadly, serve to destroy the lungs. When exercising you will breathe polluted air deeper.

We have built ourselves into a trap. Campaigns are fine if they build awareness and public pressure, but we need to do something far more profound than that.

Instead, the development is going in the opposite direction. Someone told me that the ongoing constructions around the first ring of KL, e.g. the desctruction of Taman Duta with surroundings and the conversion of greeneries to housing around the MiddleRingRoad, Sungai Boloh, Duta, Puchong-Jalil highway etc, will serve to push up the average temperature in KL by another 2-3 degrees.....

...and I wasn't even mentioning Khir Toyo's latest malfaisances...

Indeed we (not you and I, but the developers, the local councils, the politicians) have built this BIG TRAP for you and I. They know it; that is why they have moved to Putra Jaya so that they will not breath in so much of Carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, sulphur, other heavy metals etc etc.

If the developers are only fined RM2,000, or even RM50,000 for destroying the Agri Park, it is the greatest injustice imposed on us, who are just ordinary citizens. These people, together with the dirty hands that approved the project, those who refuse accountability, and those politicians who championed for the approval, should be jailed, given strokes of rotan, and sent for hard labor. They have committed greater crime than a murderer, because they are murdering so many people, by inflicting on you and I slow death of cancer, bronchiotis, heart attack, flash floods, etc etc.
