ah, my dad, as long as 'peng, leng, cheng!', is good for him already.
I think after the review in TheStar, prices started to go up. Crowded sumore.
that place is over priced....and no quality control on the food when it's packed.....anyway, there's a lot peng leng chen places in klang....all u ned is someone familiar with klang.... :D

U can try Klang Seafood at Pandamaran..........near Sri Kampung restaurant..............u get variety of seafood at a reasonable price plus air-cond............yar........Teluk Gong Coconut Flower over-rated.......used to be a fantastic place and peng, leng, cheng.............but good biz makes it being rather bo chap on the quality nowadays........u can find better food elsewhere at Klang and Port Klang..............even Port Village at North Port not as good as it used to be...............Bagan oso so-so..........
I totally agree. The Coconut Flower used to be a peng, leng, cheng, but nowadays, the food so-so only. The price is cheap, but I thnk can find other cheaper and better price restaurant. And the crowd! fuiyo! That's why I always reserve first b4 I go.
But my dad loves it (I don't know why)!! So, have to bring him there lor.
So any recommendation on any Klang seafood, especially those out-of-place, ulu-ulu area, which serves pen, leng, cheng seafood? A new thread? :)

Yup, thanks to clfoo.
We been there a few times, even before they made it big. I remember last time they only have the main dining area and a few small huts around the compound. The double storey dining area wasn't built yet. That time, food was nice and cheap.
We never needed to make any reservation, but our last experience there was really bad. It was so crowded and packed that people were just standing next to your table, staring at you, waiting for you to finish fast, so that they can take over your table. Really uncomfortable.

Coconut Flower!!? Agreed it is still 'peng' if compared to North Port & 'leng' as in the dine environment but the taste no longer 'cheng!' -- most of the dishes food too oily, no breakthrough (taste rather plain resulted from the mass production).
Back to those days in Coconut Flower, the "8-MUST HAVE" list were:
1. Yim Koke Hai (Salted Crabs) -- the best of 5, the others i.e. sweet sour & kam heong were just ordinary while steamed and marmite sUcks!
2. Salad Prawns -- the best of 3, the others i.e. coconut just ordinary while butter sUcks!
3. Deep Fried Ikan Bulus ('chimchooi' sharp mouth fish) -- ok if it's not too salty.
4. Jiu Pai Taufu -- nothing special.
5. Sotong -- tried deep fried, assam & matchap (honey-baked) ALL sUcks!
6. Yim Koke Kai -- ok if it's not too salty.
7. Bamboo Clams (chuktan) -- gone were the days for mama chuktan, the baby chuktan kam heong really sUcks!
8. O'chien -- oklah though you would see more eggs than oysters!
If you get too bored with Coconut Flower, the next time you ever thought of going Teluk Gong, try out this place -- Yong Tat Seafood Restaurant. From the bridge, instead of the usual turning left, go straight for abt 3.5km, you wld see an air-cond restaurant on your left.
This restaurant is very popular among the locals. A friend who used to frequent that area always tell me that the locals do not go to Coconut Flower or any restaurants along the stretch -- Reason: this place more 'peng, leng & cheng'!
Went there on Mother's Day, ordered kam heong crabs, lala meehoon, vege (cheng chau shue mui), steamed prawns & steamed sung fung yee.
Crabs -- the kam heong damn good :)
Lala meehoon -- cooking style a bit different smell more like Hokkien Cha (though not too oily surprisingly taste excellent! Of the 4 restaurant's lala meehoon all with different seasonings i.e. Coconut Flower, Glenmarie Bay, Teluk Gong... I still prefer Yong Tat :)
Cheng chau shue mui -- ohh I love this dish! Unlike Coconut Flower's vege which uses lotsa oil, this may look ordinary but not until you try it -- you wld crave for more!
Steamed prawns pretty good but I supposed the "yim koke har" wld be better (saw a lot of locals ordered that!).
Never order sung fung yee a.k.a. mayau yue (what a nice name!) - the dish is good but too highly priced! -1 kati RM42...hak sei yan! *You have been warned* Other than that, the other dishes cheaper than Coconut Flower.
The restaurant opens for lunch & dinner daily EXCEPT for Monday night. Contact No. 03-31341167.
When to Coconut Flower again last night, my dad's fav mah.
Ordered 8 dishes, all sucked! I still don't know why my dad loves this place. Ordered "Chew Phai Tau Foo" aka seafood tauhu, but turned out to be ordinary egg tauhu only, no seafood one. My bro ordered 'yim kuk har',salt baked prawn. The fella told us, it's called chilli pepper prawn, and not 'yim kuk har'. When the prawn dish came, it was prawn stir fried with chilli and pepper sauce! Aiya! Never heard of Yim Kuk Har kah??
But I m really impressed with their speed! I went to checkout their 'buletin board' after ordering, and when I came back (about 5 minutes, 10 mins top), all 7 dishes already served! except the crab lar. Fuiyo! But no quality :(
The only thing I enjoyed, the keropok udang at RM5.
