Where can we find the best Chee Cheong Fun in Subang Jaya?

I've certainly not come across any in USJ or Subang that's worth a mention. I would usually go to a stall at SS23 (near the former Lim Kok Wing University) hawker area and devour all I want. It's served with their home made curry as an alternative to the sweet sauce. There's also the chee cheong fun laced with dried shrimp too. Open from late afternoon till somewhat 9pm. Cheaper and good!.

The best chee cheong fun, Subang??? Man! I have something to share!!

Location: At SS14 opposite of SS15 Mcdonald there is a roti canai shop by the name of Viknesh/Viva...starting with V, which is beside the famous bak kut teh store which has since moved 3 shoplot away. Behind this roti canai shop there is a chee cheong fun stall (which is renting a space inside this roti canai shop).

Why is it good? Serving old fashion Ipoh style, must try! Taste for yourself to believe! Must go by 7.30am or else sold out or no place to sit. Can order drinks from roti canai shop; teh tarik, teh halia, etc.

I go there every weekend early morning, if go there and "sorry mai sai" (sold out), fear not, can order roti pisang!:D

There was this stall in Chow Yang that serve chee cheong fun with fried grounded dried prawn and added Yong Tow Foo sometime ago. The stall only open at night..........

Don't know where is it now........ but was certainly the best in PJ so far.

The best Chee Cheong Fun is at Hoong Foong Dim Sum 77-1 JLN USJ21/10. They serve until noon. Best if they make it fresh for you.

There is another CCF at USJ 14 Dim Sum shop (behind 7-11) also nice if serve fresh.

The rest of CCF, like in Taipan (behind Ampang YTF), Infront of parking tower and front of the taipan indian newspaper shop, her husband stall in USJ3 or 4 (near the puasa bazaar) are all off the mill, standard OEM type :D

There use to be one infront of MesinNiaga last time.

There is also one chinese restaurant in front of FlaminJ, that serve CCF with oil.

The vietnamese CCF, yuck!

Hey ppl...

Hav any of you tried the Chee Cheong Fun in Subang Jaya, SS15, Kwai Sum (used to be called New Taman Sea).

I think so far, that's the better one in Subang Jaya. Taste of the sauce is good, the chee cheong fun also quite 'smooth' and 'shyiok' to bite....

nyam nyam...

the one at the corner coffee shop of a row of single storey shops at subang indah's wet market is not bad. this is opposite the pyramid shopping mall, near a playing field. you can have it with curry or simple basic sauce but the yong tau fu is fried on the spot. excellent when eaten fresh. yong tau foo in soup. 70 sen per piece. many people on saturdays and sundays. kopi kau at the shop is strongly recommended.

wow, love chee cheong fun a lot! and they're so many suggestions here, can't wait to try them all. :p but then, different people will have different taste. in the end, some might like the ccf of this shop, and some might like the ccf of the other shop. but still, chee cheong fun is one of the best food around. :D

Icehart: chee cheong fun also got expensive one. not so sure what they called it already, HK ccf, if i'm not mistaken, got prawns one in the inside, and the chilli sauce is excellent. :] wantan mee is a bit heavy for me, i shall say, and oily. stomach sensitive. :P

If "sorry, mai sai", I order waday. Wifey and I can do our marketing after breakfast, too.
In fact, I've been there for the past few days but took only teh tarik and waday AND read newspaper for FREE. :p

And since when is CCF healthy food?.. The flour is kneaded in a lot of oil for smoothness and the sauce got a ton of sugar in it.. ..Once a while can lah.. not to often ya?...

BTW, I do affectionately and often call it Pig-Long-Powder (PLP)..direct translation of CCF. :D

Can't stay away from this thread, well here goes...

There is a corner coffeeshop in SS14 that sells chicken curry ccf in the morning only, it's located at the middle of ss14/2 row of shops opposite the New Ting Ho coffee shop.

As CalvK mentioned the ccf stall at ss14 that tumpang the V mamak shop and always mai sai, it's good, but was better years ago when it was sold in a coverted motor bike by his father and uses charcoal stove to heat the soup, that time was the best, mmm....

A good ccf should be good enough to be eaten plain with sauce only, well here are the places you can try out,

Jaya supermarket, PJ oppsite the shops (where KFC located), a corner house converted into coffee shop, the ccf there is yummy..

KL, petaling street, there are 2 stall, one is in the wet market behind petaling street, next to the car park, don't sit at the wrong table or else you will get verbally abused :D

the second stall at the kota raya end of petaling street, few stall away from the 4 eye chai duck stall.

well enjoy... :)

Not sure if you been to this corner coffeeshop in Seapark, PJ near the wet market. The ccf is not the usual type that we can commonly get in Subang/USJ or other areas (plain white type).

The one I'm referring here is the type that comes with dried shrimp & kow-choy...you can either eat it with shrimp paste (har-kow) or even the black-sweet sauce (the one you can generally get from ccf stalls in Subang/USJ) or simply eat it with curry sauce...with or without chillies is still delicious!

The stall is belongs to this old couple. The ccf is actually home-made by the couples' bro-in-law. Got to know them quite well now since I'm a regular customer...:-) Each time I'm there, hubby & myself will order extra-large plate each...that will cost RM2.30 per plate...really satisfying esp. if you add some Kampar fishballs which you can get from another stall nearby!

Agree with you their ccf is really good...smooth and flavourful. Goes well with a kopi peng kau. It's been a year since I last been there though...got hooked to the coffee shop in SS2 now. :D

One of my favourite is the stall in the SS2, PJ wet market. We normally would buy CCF on Sunday mornings. I especially like CCF with LOTS of sesame seeds.

There's a new stall in Amcorp Mall in PJ selling Kampar-style chee cheong fun. I've been there twice since the food is good and price reasonable. 2 pieces of ccf + 3 yong tau foo+ drink costs only RM5.20. There's a selection of sauces such as sweet sauce, mushroom, curry and cheese.

The stall is at the basement, rnext to Giant hypermarket.

CCF is such a versatile food, it is so simple - i love them best in the below order :

1) curry chicken + fried dried scrimps
2) soya sauce + fried shallot oil
3) sweet sauce

all the abv must add sesame seed..........wow!!

Can I comment?..(personal POV)
1. I think thats purely a local concoction.. good curry not found everywhere. The dried shrimp is so little, hardly noticed and taste is overwhelmed by the sauce. Not really worth the extra price. Err...Hong Kong CCF with real prawn is another kettle of fish!.
2. I think thats Cantonese style, if not mistaken.. I think its common to Ipoh area. Soy sauce either plain type or some own concocted soy sauce, depending on vendor.
3. 2 types of sweet sauce (mind you its VERY HEAVY sugar content) Red bean sauce and normal bean paste based. The red bean sauce for CCF rarely found around..or I've not really looked around.

Last but not least, some are "pork free" some are not.

The best cheecheongfun is in Pasir Puteh, Ipoh, according to some folks. It's so good, they make you take numbers. During lunchtime, one can expect to wait 30 minutes or more, sometimes, 45 minutes! Crazy but it's so good, you would want to go back again and again.

Coincidently I had CCF this late afternoon at my favorite stall at Tmn Megah (near former LKW Uni). Guess what?.. I noticed the supplier of CCF delivering the raw items.
Amazingly, the van has the address and website on it. Here it is:
http://www.lognroll.com.my/home/lognroll/t1/aboutus.php
So now I know where it comes from.
Having said that, the final taste is from the vendor's own thim cheong, curry or how its served up. I guess all the ccf, tow foo and foo chok are all the same, but its the sauce that counts for best taste. For a change, I had 3pcs of CCF with soy sauce, fish balls and foo chok on another plate with sauce, no chilly. WHACKED ALL!...hungry mah!.. YUMMY!

gtl
19-08-2008, 10:43 AM
my believe is that those famous stalls will put in special sauces into the thim cheong and make their own YTF and curry chicken. if you sell those OEM goods, then their CCF will be so so only.

good CCF goes a long way with me, and they shd not stinge on sesame seed too.

btw, have you guys tried the ss15 morning market CCF, it is not bad, even have pig skin - sinful but heavenly.

I live nearby and like that CCF too, especially after she (the boss) recommended trying the curry+thim cheong. I agree CCF really depends on the gravy and this lady serves up the best I've tried so far. Also, there is a CKT a few stalls away. It's quite good and this guy has the cleanest CKT frying pan I have ever seen! He opens late afternoon till night.
