To all my dear neighbours.

I am a student taking property management in University Of Malaya (UM). And i am doing a research on Serviced Apartment for my first degree thesis. Previously i've read alot about the problems faced by buyers, and there have been many many issues talked in such matter.

And to my understanding, Serviced Apartments are considered to be new types of property even it was introduced in Kuala Lumpur in year 1988 with the launchig of the MICASA serviced apartment.

I was wondering the management of serviced apartment whether it is similar to conventional condominiums? Does strata title apply to such premises? Is there any protection given to buyer or owners of serviced apartment regardless of the "Housing and development act"? With the sales and lease back arrangement, does the owners of each parcel has right to voice out in the management? Does it has a management corporation similar to the one as the conventional condominiums.

Couldnt your questions be answered with a couple of visits to the Housing & Local Govt Ministry ( HLGM) ?

Suggest you try calling one of the developers for help. Some of them can be quite helpful especially if its a educational project. PM for the contacts if you want.

Hi Dennn, even as you write your academic paper, you'll need to quote statements specifically from a reliable source and posting from usj.com.my would only give you 2 cent worth opinions. That's not very impressive to the examiner you know. Time to hit the bookselves and the library. ;)

Hi Dennn,

If I am not mistaken, more than six months ago, STAR paper did published an article on the do and don't on service apartment. Try STAR archieve.

Pets=Friends was right. Your research paper should not quote Ah Beng said this, Ali said that, and Samy have this idea. Professional and published source is what you should get.

Good luck.
