Hey ! Did you by chance register in Telekom or online...? I have to tell you guys this experience...
I tried registering for streamyx online from my office in Puchong. I was using a Jaring dialup line then. After a few clicks here and there, I clicked the "Submit" button. To my surprise, about 15 seconds... 15 seconds after hitting the submit button, I got a call from tmnet saying that I had applied for the Streamyx line. I got a shock ! I told them there must be some mistake as I just had clicked the "submit" button like 15 seconds ago. They said that they had gotten the application right after i clicked "submit". Anyways, I got my line after 3 days upon registering with streamyx online. Maybe you should try it out too...it might be fast?

Thanks Dops,
I have earlier backed up my address book, mails and IE favourites files before reformatting my harddisk. How do I restore/import these files to their original states?
Appreciate your time and efforts in helping me out.
lmy
Hello baby....!!!
I am here to ROCK you again..
First, can I know what format of yor address book?
Normally, if you are using Address Book provide by Microsoft Windows, then the format should be in [*.wab]
So, the best thing is to restore by opening that particular programme [ADDRESS BOOK] and find for restore button. In this case, I assume that you are using [ADDRESS BOOK] provide by window.
1. First what you have to do is open the [ADDRESS BOOK]
2. On top of your left handside, there's [FILE] button.Click it
3. And the you can choose [IMPORT / EXPORT] button
4. From there, just point your file (the one that you want to import)
5. And it will start importing.
Simple is it <-----
About your email, it is almost using the same method.
I assume that you are backing up from OE or MS Outlook
Sooooo, your email backup file should be in [*.pst]
In this case, just follow the same method as above. You are not only can import your Messages, but also your phone book as well. Slowly follow all the steps..
LETS ROCK BABY !!!!! :D :) :o

hmm, just applied for streamyx last weekend, till now haven't activated...
called the center, telekom still not done the hardwired part yet...
so? wait? Just one word of warning, if you have more than one telephone in your house ALL will need a 'filter' on them to alough your streamyx to work properly, it took me 4 calls and 2 weeks of stress before i finally got the tech out for $50 to find out 2 $27 filters was all i needed, so if u are still having trouble buy the filters from Clickers and try again.
romi_o
10-12-2004, 11:14 PM
well, knew about the filter part...
just need a few calls to customer service center to urge them to ask telekom to jumper the wire... a bit frustrated, but already surfing at more than 56k speed since 2/12/2004... :)
download speed normally around 600kbps, but upload speed sux... only about 10kbps (they advertised about 1Mbps/384kbps)
y dont u just straight away go to clickers and make a written report
take the name of person in charge so that in future it will be easier to make

hi..
i'm new here and i'm not familiar with streamyx. i've applied streamyx 3 weeks ago. up until now i'm still struggling with outlook express 5.0 using streamyx connection. i've remove and re-add my mail account thousands times already. there're times when i could be able to send and receive mail from my pop.tm.net.my/smtp.tm.net.my account. but most of the time, my outgoing server smtp.tm.net.my just seem to unable to complete the task and forever asking me to wait for 60 secs until i couldn't stand it anymore. Below, i paste the error message for your references;
An unknown error has occurred. Subject 'Delivery Order 9258', Account: 'pop.tm.net.my', Server: 'smtp.tm.net.my', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '421 Error: timeout exceeded', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 421, Error Number: 0x800CCC67
retrieving email from http://webmail.tm.net.my also won't help because my browser/ IE couldn't open most of email-based websites such yahoo.com etc.. i suppect routing problem but i've done everything as instructed at streamyx's user guide/manual/faq. i've set dns server at 202.188.0.133 and 202.188.1.5 and server auto-assign IP. Yet nothing help.
please help, and by the way, just don't ask me to remove and readd my mail account anymore. i've done that so many times, i lost count already and too tired to do so.
thanks.

I may have similar problems as you in the begining . In the end I just disable tmnet mail account and install only streamyx mail . As what Dops said why waste $$$ if you are already on streamyx. If you still need to access your mail , just get through webmail then. Hope this helps.

Is your "Account" correct? shouldn't it be your email address like darkstorm@streamyx.com?
If there is a timeout error, then it could be because you have a very slow connection or the server can't resolve your login. Or by the way, did you connect to the Internet?
If you would like me to try to help, it would be helpful if you may PM me (so as not to announce to the whole world) your POP and SMTP settings - you may give me a fictitious userid so that I don't know your real account detail but I need to know your other tmnet settings. Don't give me yr password.
BTW, why don't you use webmail instead from your browser?

do you have an internet connection in the first place?
and did you login into the streamyx network correctly?
DarkStorm

Yes i do have an internet connection and i'm using streamyx to post my thread here and therefore, of course my login into streamyx network correct. i can browse most website through internet explorer, except email-based website. some people said this problem due to security concerns.
Below, i paste what i found out at http://www.tm.net.my/html/htm/faq/product_streamyx_troubleshoot.htm#6
" Due to security concerns, some ISP's block access to their smtp server especially for users who are trying to access their smtp server while using another ISP's Internet access. For example, users using the tmnet streamyx service will not be able to send email while using another ISP's email account. "
And if the setting in my mail account become the issue, frankly, i've been using the same setting with TMNET 1515 dial-up, and i never had this type of problem. i hate to disconnect from streamyx network, dial TMNET 1515 only to send/receive pop mail from my outlook express or to check my yahoo email.
Anyway, kwchang, i'm not using that "darkstorm@streamyx.com" for my mail account. i never do. i'm trying to get/send mail from my TMNET account. therefore, my mail login should be "fakeid@tm.net.my". My pop3 server should be "pop.tm.net.my" and my outgoing smtp server should be "smtp.tm.net.my" i have no problem with authorization and easily connected to TMNET server even though using Streamyx. i just don't understand why outlook express unable to send/get TMNET pop mail while using streamyx connection. i can't just abandon my tmnet mail account. i've been using it for business for long time and abandoning it in favour for streamyx pop mail account will surely hurt my business. someday, it will change but until then, i'm stucked with my poor old tmnet account.
please help. i really appreciate if you can.

Some considerations -
a) did you know even TMNet account can be accessed as webmail? Check it out.
b) If SMTP is your problem, try smtp2.tm.net.my instead. I find that this one works quite well.
c) Outlook should not be a problem becoz Telekom mail servers run on Microsoft Exchange, so they interface very well. However, perhaps your Outlook is corrupted and if there is no solution, would you like to try Mozilla Thunderbird? For your information, after installing Thunderbird, you can select your Outlook settings and mailboxes to be copied to your Thunderbird mail-browser. That way you continue browsing your emails on Thunderbird as if you had been using it all along, with all yr old emails for reference. You can also import your addressbook from Outlook. By the way, you can activate the "Junk Folder" in Thunderbird which helps a great deal if you receive a lot of SPAM or junk mail.

Thanks kwchang...
i've already installed mozilla thunderbird and now i'm trying beta version of mozilla firefox which is more advanced than mozilla thunderbird. it featured email client, irc chat client, safe browsing and anti-pop up. i'm using it's email client to send and received email from my tmnet account and it work well. thanks for your advise. i appreciate it.

Hello kwchang,
I read your thread, and perhaps thought you could help solve my problem.
I use XP and have been using Streamyx for about a year and a half. I had problems at the early stages but this was all cleared up. I use Firefox and Thunderbird. No problem whatsoever.
Yesterday I had to re-instal Windows XP and also added SP2 from a Cd plus the 17 security risks or updates.
From then the following are my problems:
I can log onto the internet. Browse anything I want and there is no problem.
My problem is e-mail. I set up Thunderbird and configured it. I believe I know what I am doing as I have done so umpteen times. It won't connect to pop3 tmnet. I thought something was wrong with my connection to tmnet and browsed for tmnet webmail. Here was another problem, though I can go to any web page, but when I click tmnet web page it gives me a time out message. Contacted customer service, the girl could go to my webmail and since there were about 200 over messages, she said, my mail box is overloaded. Requested and I gave her permission to delete the whole lot of e-mails basically news, forum news etc. She told me to use Internet Explorer, clear my cookies, temporary files and history which I did. No change in position. Made me to on/off my modem, connections, reboot a few times and nothing has changed.
I use Zone Lab and the usual XP firewall. The girl has given me a report number and I know I have to hang on for a couple days before the technician contacts and in my experience they too find it difficult to get to the problem.
Tried to get solutions from the net. Surprisingly there are no problems like this. Why can't I get to the webmail. Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you.

If you can read this post now.....then do this...make sure you have the proper internet address provided by TMNet for you - usually xxx@streamyx.com ,
1. Goto TMnet's web-based email site.
2. Login using the proper username supplied by TMNet - the xxx ....
3. After the @ sign there is a drop-down menu, choose the one related to your internet account, streamyx I suppose.
You should be able to login in......
Revert back with error messages if not successful..
Rgds,

Dear all,
MyV3 RTS (Virus protection which is downloaded automated from TMNet) detected a Trojan virus/Rootkit.6656 one week later after I have subscribed to Streamyx. Eversince that every minute same virus alert appears on the screen. Although it says that the virus is 'repairable', after clicking OK for repair, it comes back again.
Is there anything I can do to stop this virus and message/alert. It's unbearable to face it every minute.
Can somebody help me with this problem.
Thank you
