To wine lovers.
Some tips I gathered to share with you.

Because the most important quality of any wine is the balance between acidity and sweetness, you'll get the full taste of a wine by following these three steps:
1. First impression: Your taste buds wil respond to sensations and your senses little funny in front of your friends - but it's meant to be fun!. Examine the body and texture of the wine. Is it smooth or harsh? is it light or rich? is it sweet or sour?
3. Aftertaste: contemplate the taste that remains in your mouth just after you have swallowed the wine. Take your time, how long did the taste last? Was it a pleasant taste?
I find the above the best way to choose and enjoy your vine.

My favourite are Australian vines they do excite my taste buds and prepare me for my meals.Of the many, my favourities is the Cape Mentelle Cabernet Merlot 1999
Delicious, rich and lingerring...and also good for my heart and arteries.

My favourite remains californian wine.....

My general rating:

Australian Red - good, esp those that are fruity in nature. Their whites tend to be too dry.

Californian - sweet and easy.

Favourite: South African reds.

I think I have one from Argentina that I have not opened. Time to find an occassion to open that. Probably during Christmas when the family will be complete with my brother coming back for holidays.

err, a word of advice, don't try naka list when u had 2 glass or more, far from impress, ur friends might think ur speaking in another language :D

Generally speaking, the combination of different kind of food with different wine is as follows (but there are exceptions):-


1. White Wine:
(pinot blanc, pinot,chardonnay,sauvignon,champagne,sparking wine, riesling,white burgundy)

For fish/chicken/pork/shellfish/pasta/salad/vegi./soup.

2. Red Wine:
( Shiraz ,pinot noir, red burgundy, merlot),

For beef/lamb/spare ribs/game meat/hard & firm cheeses.

3. Port/Sherry for desserts

Hi Naka
Since you are in Australia what do you think of Brown Brothers wine..I intend to try it out soon..rough cost RM56.

Do you consider this one of the top range in Australia?

Yes, I had tried Brown Brothers wine b4 for dinner and it went well with the food.

I think it costs about A$12.00 a bottle.

My fav OZ wine would definitely have to be Wolfblass, both red and white. Very safe if you are in the midst of wine lovers and you have the honour of choosing the wine. You can never go wrong with this label.

But my all time fav if Robert's Rock, South African Cab Sauv. Bloody good, very rich and full bodied red. I get them by the dozens from my 'supplier' in S'pore. Never found it in Malaysia, I wonder why!!

The other good one you should try is Terra Mater, Chilean Red Cab Merlot. Goes well with red meat, any time.
