First and foremost, I know very little of this as I am a banana - yellow on the outside but white in the inside. I only know ik, er, san, se. ni how mah? The brochure given to me is in Mandarin but I was requested to publicise this event here. So I will try my best.

Basically, the NS trainees are divided into 3 batches with the first batch starting 13 December 2004. All in 85,000 are selected. If your kid is one of those selected (just like mine) you may be interested to attend this talk where the organiser would want to share with you what you and your child can expected from this NS training and some halloween stories as well. They feel that this talk can be very useful to make you and your kid come more prepared. Since this is in Mandarin, I will not be there. I will surely snore when I am bored

Date: Saturday, 23 October, Saturday

Venue: SRJK Lick Hung at SS 19

I called the above hotline and asked the joker on the other line when are they sending me the official letter to inform me that my daughter is selected? He said early November. When I said the deadline or any postponement/objection was last week, he said I should have known by now that my daughter has been selected and therefore should have responded earlier before the deadline. I said "Hello, saya hanya baca The SUN dan handfone saya sudah kaput sebab terlalu SMS untuk Malaysia Idol so macam mana bolih tahu. Patutnya, you orang kena hantar surat awal awal." He could not reply me. And until now I don't know which batch she is being assigned to. So how to plan for our holidays. Maybe I should attend the above talk and hantam Loh Seng Kok on this problem - Non communication
and kalang kabut. Maybe I should ask Najib to resign.......

Of all the places in Subang Jaya, why does he choose a place like Lick Hung to have a talk. With all due respect, that area is every motorist's nightmare. No ample parking, narrow roads. Why not SMK Subang Utama/Subang Jaya/Seafield since these are secondary schools and his would be target audience. My 0.05 sen.

Good question. I can only guess that since this is in Mandarin, it would be a Herculean task to get the SMK to oblige him. The SMK will say "Tak Nak" as they see the issue of NS as not revelant here. YB Loh works very well with this William Hung .... I mean Lick Hung School and it is so much easier to get the HM to say "Nak" I believe he also know about the traffic situation here and that is why it is held on a Saturday afternoon where it is not that bad. Until today, my daughter's school is totally silent on the NS program as if it is not there. I guess it could be due to the coming SPM exam that they want the students to stay focus. So this could be another reasons why the SMK are very silent. This is my ringgit worth of speculation.

the main purpose of NS is to get the young ones to mix with other ppl of different races as a stepping stone to national integration but from what i read and as informed by some of the parents of the 1st batch of trainees, this wasn't fully achieved as the trainees "cliqued" with their own kind, here meaning race.

so hope this talk will try to "influence" the trainees to mix around & not just stick to their own kind. just my 2.07sen (after adjusting for inflation). :)
