Najib: NS camp commander violated directive

Update from The Star News Desk: 10/05/04
By Leong Shen-Li

KUALA LUMPUR: The commander of the camp where national service trainee T. Saravanan was training in did not follow a directive by the National Service Training Department banning group swimming, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said.

"I want to know why the camp commander did not follow our directive," he said.

Najib, who was speaking to reporters after opening the Hackers Halted 2004 seminar on computer network security today, was asked about Saravanan's death during a picnic with a group of 250 trainees at Sungai Taman Wangi in Gua Musang, Kelantan on Saturday.

The 18-year-old from Taiping was the second NS trainee to drown during training.

********************************************

Our much hyped, expensive, patriotic bull$hit NS has so far claimed 2 lives and an alleged rape victim. What a price to pay for the inefficiency and stupidity of some money minded jacka$$es who are quick to point fingers at the other person for the fook-ups of this national disaster???

You send a group of 'kids' under the supervision of a so-called 'trainer' (who in actual fact is a half past six ordinary joe). When the trainees don't do as ordered, they are either punished or when they raise their dissatisfaction, sent to Camp Murni (another corrective ctr like Henry Gurney!). And in that process when one of these , what I call as innocent kids perish, fingers start pointing everywhere and by the time you know, it is another Anwar case like thingy, everything will been forgotten.

The parents of the children can only regret to the fact that they should never have trusted the bloody government knowing that nothing of these kind of stuff from the government has been really detailed and studied before implementation. The man on the street is forced to swallow every bitter pill churned by the pact of wolves hiding behind titles all in the name of money making!!! What rubbish!!

For all you folks with kids either enlisted of waiting to be, take caution!! With a bunch of ignorant fools manning these camps, you can't be cock sure what will happen next.

I sometimes wonder, what is the focking reason for this NS?!! What harmony they want to instill? Can't something be done in the schools? Isn't that institution a place where friendship and tolerance is forged? When we have achieved this all the while, why is it impossible to do it again?

My freaking 2 sens or whatever. I'm just mad rite now!!!

Hi Lord:) - Ever since this freaking idea about NS was announced prior to GE2004, the news got Orchi jittery n confused. 10 freaking years down the road, when the eldest of little Orchi could be old enough to get drafted to this freaking jokers' acts of so called National trainings. That's like going to be 10 freaking more years at least for Orchi to have the constant worries n eerie reminders that the time is getting closer n close day by day, month by month, and year by year, whether Orchi is going to let these morons 'torture' the most dearest of Orchi's.

Well, the NS is still far from claiming as many lives as our dreadful traffic system, but it seems its gearing up to the abominable challenge...

& to top it, any 18-yr old trainee who dies while under NS is only worth RM170,000!

Sorry, read from theSun that it's RM107,000 not RM170,000 as posted earlier. Sorry... :p

There should not be a price tag on human life. Whoever without hesitation blurted out the RM 107,000 compensation thought that with the amount stated, the family of the teenager will keep quiet. We also have to look the other way. If this boy died elsewhere, the family would get nothing. Orchi shouldn't worry about things 10 years down the road. I am even in a worser situation. Mine daughter who is born in late December will be next in line. If she is selected, she will be just 17 and will be pitted amongst those who are born in January and are school dropped out. I think they should have a separate training program for those who are early school dropped out and who may be married as well. These are the ichibawa people that we most fear. They seem to have this tagline "Nak hisap ****** whenever they meet any girls. We call this trawler fishing for they think they might get lucky and land a big catch. What makes them think that they are so desirable. I pity the Form 3 girl who was raped and murdered last week just because she said "Taknak" to two teenage boys.

Hi pcYeoh:) - You are right again, this is not Orchi's immediate concerns, as oppose to yours. Orchi is certain that you have brought up your dearest well. A crashcourse lessons in self defence should be considered for her as soon as possible(unless she is already a 3 dans karate expert). Orchi has seen teenagers gotten their blackbelts with 6 months of intensive training.:)

With certain degree of expertise in self defence, she should be able to fend for herself, n kick the ****ts out of any boy(s)(or trainers) who might have nasty ideas in the NS training camps.:)

If she is bi-spectacles, get her some comfortable contact lenses to wear. Tell her to choose her acquantances wisely to be friendly to(bad boys or trainers might take 'friendliness' for granted). Hopes these measures would prepare her a bit in expecting the 'unlikehood' of bad things happening.:)

From what I read in the papers, there are ways to get off NS:-

1. Run away, citing problems with fellow trainees, etc like the Johor girl did - she got to choose the camp of her choice...

2. Do a lot of mistakes & get send home... like what happened to the 4 trainees...

3. Get a doctor to certify that you have some medical condition/s...

4. Shift to Brunei before your kids are 18... :D

Hi KH EE:) - Hahaha....LOL:D You are telling Orchi to send them off before 18 to overseas...Orchi can dig that, no problem.:)

But you're telling Orchi to get a doctor to certify the kids(unfit)....also Orchi can live with it.:)

But then you're telling little Orchis to make plenty of mistakes?...Orchi is certain they won't come back in one piece after that....! Aaah...hahahaha....LOL :D

BTW, pcYeoh:) - Orchi thinks KH EE might have some good pointers for your considerations here?

The boy's life is now "valued" at RM120K when semi value donated RM10K & the Perak State govt, RM3K - pity Kayveas, being the local MP, can't "donate" anything - maybe no money after GE!

Bet some lawyer will incite the family to sue govt, NS trainers/commandant, etc for more... :o
