I am amazed at how you, a newbie to this Forum, has seen through Dr_Luv's intentions. Were you here before in a different life?

Generally, most people have now refused to respond to Dr_Luv's postings because his postings have deep undercurrents. We are alarmed why aimless and saml have decided to give Dr_Luv the attention he don't deserve.

For your information, I have already warned Dr_Luv by PM on the same day he posted this nonsense. We are waiting for him to make the next wrong move....

In the meantime, we do not remove threads quietly. If it is removed, we report it for you to know. As you have seen, we have frozen some offensive threads but maintained it online as an educational piece for newbies to learn from before they make similar mistakes. Our job is to allow freedom of speech on condition that Forumers behave like adults.

By leaving this thread on, we can show how Dr_Luv makes a complete fool of himself.

in all due fairness, i think dr_luv is making a fool of this forum and the moderating more than himself. he knows it and enjoys it.

christophernng is right. it is harassment, and this is not the first time that dr luv has done so towards me.

i am personally holding this forum responsible for allowing such talk to go on. let it be noted that in the previous episode of outbursts and threats on his behalf, i had sent numerous pms to both moderators (jeffooi and kwchang) asking for some degree of control over dr_luv, to no avail. i contacted the authorities as i said i would and waited for the logs to hand over, but when i asked for it i was told they were "not available".

instead i was told to hold back and not address dr_luv at all so as to not prompt him to reply. (very "malaysian")

kwchang, i am not replying dr_luv right now, nor have i posted in this forum in ages. but he still continues to harass me. i'm afraid your theory is grossly flawed.

i take it that this is a place where this kind of talk is tolerated - i have had a post deleted for pointing out to another gentleman that i did not tolerate his overly sexual post, and i was told that it was "irrelevant to the conversation". the other day someone preached on the forum, which no doubt is wrong, and his post was deleted too.

dr_luv's thread is even more serious than both of those posts put together - apart from anything it singles me out as an individual. and it's okay for it to sit there and fester?

it seems grossly unfair, dr_luv (and other members on occassions) have been allowed to post whole threads and posts on insults, harassment, even murder threats towards me. to say that they're left there to prove to the world "how stupid he sounds" is something i don't find acceptable.

this really sends a message out to women notably, that this is not a safe and respectful forum for us to be seen or heard.

kwchang, please don't crucify me and use me as an example of dr_luv's poor behaviour. have some degree of fairness towards my wellbeing, feelings and reputation. even if you want to allow this guy to continue to spout crap, have the decency to remove threads that are deeply offensive, sexist and mocking, amongst other disturbing things.

i'm sure you wouldn't want someone talking like that to your wife or daughters, or any woman you cared about. what if dr_luv addressed that poem to one of them? would you allow it to sit there to show "how stupid he can be"? i guarantee you you'd burn it on sight.

I respect you a lot because you know how to stand up for yourself. Unfortunately, such 'quality' is questionable in this culture for the female counterpart. I know it is not fair but this is a different ball game here. In some culture, poeple will find you 'assertive' but in where you live, you are seen as too 'abrasive'. Sorry to say that and I don't mean to offend you. I just want to be upfront and honest. You have a right to express yourself as an individual and I respect that. But to choose that path, you are vulnerable to the so called 'harrasment' and 'resentment' so you have be aware of the repercussion. you are right. unfortunately malaysia has quite a sexist culture i hope we shake off. i read a very good article by marina mahathir about it the other day - this whole rape talk about increasing the punishments deals with the aftermath. the entire situation of malaysia being a sexist culture which views women sexually and as submissive characters was not addressed at all. i agree with her in entirety.

When I read Dr_Luv's poem, I thought to myself, oh crap! This 'thing' has done it again. I was actually wondering if the moderators would do anything to the thread but I was (somewhat pleasantly) surprised that they did not, because I am against censorship of all types. However, I would have preferred the moderators be consistent, if the thread posted recently titled 'jesus died for you' was to be eliminated, then this one should be too. We take religion seriously but not harassment? I am still skeptical at the concept of words amounting to sexual harassment but if that's the line we are going to take, then I suggest you give Dr Luv a final warning, if it hasn't been done already.

Anyway, I am going to ignore this cretin Dr Luv as much as I can. Perhaps like a pimple if we don't distrub it, it will slowly go away.

A particular post here is deeply offensive to forum members in particular and decent human beings in general. As a friend, I urge the person not even to mention vulgar words in the same breath as other comments (twisted justification and sheer hypocrisy) made by him. He is insulting forum members, insult all in general out there. I have heard about freedom of speech but I have also been told that freedom of speech comes with responsibility. Lets have good sense and decency prevails.

Obviously you are not prepared to an open discussion and as not 100% of the forum accepted your personal arguements, you start insulting everybody. Your arguement to do something for the whole thread valid, but the way how you are trying to do it, is the opposite of what you are saying. If you are not capable of an open discussion, then you should learn this first.

As I have mentioned at least once in the past, do not bring personal arguments online. We have the PM (not Pak Lah, Private Messaging ) to handle that. I have also told EJ personally that I am an old man and I do not move as quickly as I used to, hence my being "ineffectual" and perhaps totally incompetent to a lot of people. As for my balls, I guess they are the first to disappear with old age. So what pleasure does it give you, my gwailo friend, to tell my neighbours of my predicament? But then again, I shall be ineffectual once more and allow your comments to pass ALTHOUGH I had been taught well (by EJ) to IMMEDIATELY BAN anyone who spout such comments in our public Forum. However, this is only the one chance you have to do that because we feel you have your right to your opinion.

As Ginaphan has told me and also mentioned in another thread, our Forum has regressed to boxing rings. I agree with her. However, do remember that we do not administer or moderate for a living. I work during the day and tend to my children's school-work in the evenings. Many times I get online only way past midnight just to check that the other 'KIDS' on the Forum haven't made a mess of this playground. It is unfortunate that we have people who abuse their stay.

You know, we were so proud of the type of Forum crowd that we started with. We had responsible citizens coming on to use this platform for their community messages. There was a lot of self-censorship, tolerance and plain good neighbourliness. If my memory is not going into athrophy like my other body parts, I would say that somehow we had some misfits infiltrating the Forum in the past year. We stuck to our strong believe in non-censorship but it created this rot we see now.

However if I am not incorrect, there was a post made by none other than a fellow moderator where it was made clear that the choice to leave the thread in its place was no less than a policy decision "to demonstrate what an idiot the original poster is" (my paraphrasal).

I would personally be embarassed to be associated with that kind of policy decision. This individual has made open threats before now and is now posting this kind of sick material singling out a single person - namely, Empress Julz - as a chosen victim. As moderators, you all have a moral responsability to ensure the wellbeing of your readership, and I hate to say this but at the very least you have let EJ (and many other decent and less controversial characters) down.

I, too, am an Administrator on an Internet forum, so I can well identify with the kinds of difficulties you find yourselves faced with. However, I would never forgive myself for allowing a member, no matter how unpopular he or she may be, to be denigrated publicly in such a manner.

To my way of thinking, you (as an aggregate whole, I am not necessarily personalising here) have traded EJ's dignity in exchange of avoiding a (possibly) unpopular decision, and that is disgraceful. I am truly disappointed. If that disappointment caused me to be more offensive than was called for then I apologise, but I stand by my words. Feel free to ban me if you think that is the correct course of action, but I feel that compared to the multiple misdeeds of Dr_Luv this single post pales in comparison.

To the ladies who have been offended, I tender my apologies.

Yes, I was slow to Dr-Luv's agendas. In the past we did have such smart-alec nobodies who tested the waters of our Forum. However, in those days, the other Forum members generally side-stepped such droppings. Peace usually prevailed. In the recent developments with Dr_Luv, my poor memory tells me that EJ started to defend herself online and prolonged the harassment. We thought (in hind-sight, wrongly) that such issues would resolve themselves as it did in the early days. As you know, with EJ holding court, this was not to be. Once the argument developed, I felt that I could not BAN Dr_Luv without also banning EJ because both were argueing online (not using the PM system). To be fair, we should have banned both. Of course, that would bring all EJ's supporters down on my neck. So, I tried talking them down offline, with warnings. Things toned down over the Christmas holidays as you may remember....

By the way, as of this afternoon, we have banned Dr_Luv AND Christopherngg. I have not banned people before and we had some hiccups along the way - I guess they are finally out for good since 7pm today.

So folks, we will now change our policy of being lenient to our guests who overstep their freedom of speech. There shall be no fear or favour. We shall remove your right to be our guest if you misbehave. Be an adult and you shall carry on as before. I am sure most people know what to do.
