PETALING JAYA: A seven-year-old girl’s first day at school turned out to be a horrendous experience when she was kidnapped by two men and a woman in Subang Jaya on Monday._
Her parents only came to know of the kidnapping after receiving a telephone call the next day._
The girl was released unharmed along the Kesas Highway near Shah Alam at 4.50pm yesterday after an unspecified amount of ransom was dropped off at an un-disclosed location. _
Police have remained tight-lipped on the case and until Press time, no suspects have been arrested._
The girl’s 47-year-old father, an engineer, and mother, a 43-year-old university lecturer, had lodged a missing person’s report at the Subang Jaya police station at about 11pm after they found their daughter missing after school._
The Star learnt that the girl’s parents did not know that their daughter had been kidnapped and had contacted MCA Public Services and Complaints bureau head Michael Chong to publicise their missing daughter. During the press conference yesterday, the girl’s mother, identified only as Lim, received a mobile phone call and immediately walked out of the room._
A reporter overheard Lim crying and pleading over the phone to lower the ransom from RM200,000 to RM10,000 for her daughter’s release._
When Lim returned, Chong called off the press conference and later alerted the police about the matter._
Later, when reporters contacted the parents, they were told that the girl had been released._
It is learnt that the girl had told her parents that two men and a woman had kidnapped her._
When narrating how the girl had gone missing from SJK (C) Lick Hung in SS19, Chong had told reporters that the girl was sent to school at 12.50pm by a woman who had also picked up four other pupils. She did not accompany them into the school grounds as her car was blocking traffic._
He said the woman later returned in the evening to pick up the pupils but the girl was missing._
Chong said the parents and school authorities were alerted and they launched a search for the girl and lodged a police report. _
