Hi people,

I am helping an organisation to organise a charity workshop called "Happy Healthy Minds" for both parents and children. We are already approaching a few homes but we would also like to extend the benefit to parents and children from the lower income group (<RM2000 per month). If you know of anyone who is actively involved in social welfare projects for children, would appreciate if you could give me the lead.

Details as below. Thanks so much!

Date: 13 December 2003 (Saturday)
Time: 1 – 4pm
Venue: Bukit Kiara Equestrian and Country Resort
Jalan Bukit Kiara
Off Jalan Damansara
60000 Kuala Lumpur
Pax: 40 children
70 adults (parents/caregivers)
Admission: Free
Facilitator: Dr Teoh Hsien Jin (and his team of psychologists)

* Transportation, food and beverage provided

The Healthy Happy Minds series of workshops is designed for children aged seven to ten years old. It aims to provide them with the necessary skills to cope with social and cognitive problems, and embrace life meaningfully. It also features a special session for their parents and caregivers to help them understand the problems faced by the children.

The workshops are targeted at underprivileged children to provide them with access to mental health care, which would be otherwise neglected or too expensive for them to afford.

The decision to focus on children’s mental health is based on a recent study conducted by the Ministry of Health, indicating that children’s mental health problems in Malaysia are on the rise.

Sorry! Somehow some parts of the para went missing. Anyways, the missing part:

...We are already approaching a few homes but we would also like to extend the benefit to parents and children from the lower income group (<RM2000/month). If you know of anyone who is actively involved in social welfare for children, I would be most grateful if you could pass me the lead.

Once again, thanks! :)
