Very often when I checked on the 'user online' page, I found that there are a few members but usually a host of 'guests'. At one time, I even counted up to 16 guests. For example, today, 22nd September at 2.10pm, there were 21 'guests'. Does this mean that this forum actually attract that many people but there are not registered members? Please help me out here. Thanks.

And if there are so many 'guests', can we encourage them to join the forum?

:)

Well, I'm glad you noticed that this IS in fact a very popular website ! Jeff can tell you about that.

Fact of Malaysians - non-participatory, period. That's why you see a few yakity-yaks like the hard-core contributors (yourself included, CHL) and a huge audience who prefer to keep quiet.

Hmmm... let's not be so specific, I think this applies to ALL public forums all over the world - the silent majority are known as "lurkers".

Correct me if I'm wrong. Number of guest may also be contributed by the fact that there are more readers accessing this site from PC that didn't store the cookies or have been deleted ... i.e. not own pc, work place, cyber cafe and etc...

In my opinion, this site or forum is more appealing and atracting mostly the "older" adults (maybe 30 and above), but definitely not the younger people! I can see a generation gap there! And if this site does not do something to attract more young people, I think in another 5 years, this site will be filled with senior adults and older people only! This is just my assumption!

Don't take me wrong, I am not saying having alot of senior adults here is bad, but i am saying bringing more young people including teens will definitely make this a more fun and interesting site (while the senior adults share their valuable experiences, knowledge and wisdom)!

Well....who cares who comes or what's in the future right? As long this site is still "popular" and people enjoyed! :D

Sky - You do have a good point there. Can you suggest ways in which we can attract 'younger adults' to this forum? The only contention I have is that 'senior adults' are not necessarily wiser or more knowledgeable! But indeed, a good mixture of members is always a good thing :)

there ARE young adults here. (i'm still trying to hit on Cool Hand Lukes daughters) when i first stumbled across this website, it didn't occur to me the participants were any more matured than i was until i picked up bits and pieces about some being mothers and fathers :)

that said, i think the malaysian culture of 'lurking' is very very unfortunate.

CHL, i dont think not having too many teenagers is a particularly bad thing. :)
